I'd also like to know. My bill just went up last month. 25% more! I'm really tired of doing the "retention game".

We went from Comcast to Dish Network on to just streaming 2 years ago. Now we stream Hulu + Live TV , Amazon Prime Video and Disney over our Roku streaming stick.
The only thing we've upgraded a bit was our internet connection speed. Even with those changes, its still costs less than the package offerings we got from cable or Dish Network. Our internet connection speed is adequate for 4k streaming via Xfinity's "copper" but we will probably move over to internet via fiber next year through MetroNet.
The only thing that we miss right now is the unlimited storage capability of the Dish Network receiver. Our present Hulu package limits content storage to just 50 hours.
Sit down an count up the cost of switching to streaming. Weigh all the positives & negatives for your situation. You may find that you may be a bit better off if to suits your needs.
BTW, They keep trying to entice us with their offers but we are not going back.............

I cut my services.....what to do next? You need to create a list of all your channel "must-haves" and then the "nice to haves". Then compare that list against the various streaming packages out there to find the best deal.

Also make sure you have enough internet bandwidth for streaming as you’ll now be putting a lot more traffic on it.

Like others have said....make sure you have the correct bandwidth for your internet....create a list of what you watch, your "must haves" and what you could live without. Look at all the various streaming services and what they provide. Once you have chosen, add up the price and compare that to your current service.
If you have the ability to mount an outdoor TV antenna, you will receive OTA (off the air) local channels for free. Also, ATSC 3.0 if not already available in your area, will eventually become more prevalent. You would be able to receive 4K as well as Dolby ATMOS IF the station broadcasts it. In your case (Brooklyn), you may be able to use an indoor TV antenna.
Go to TVFool.com to enter your address and see which stations you can pick up.....and which direction the broadcasting towers are.

As others have said, find which channels you must have and search for a streaming service that provides it. Google TV had the most channels my wife and I were interested in, but we simply stayed with Netflix, Amazon Prime and local channels via an antenna and an HDHomeRun to stream the local channels. Most if not all, streaming services are month to month, no contracts, so you can subscribe, drop and resubscribe at will. We have FIOS 1GB service and we have Nvidia Shields connected via ethernet at the TV... I work from home, 2 kids during COVID taking college courses via Zoom, zero streaming issues. Never liked cable TV due to the ever changing price point, been a FIOS customer ever since it came to my area, it was a must have when we moved to a new home. I cut the cord a while back... at least 5+ years.

Looks like i will be signing up for the free 2-week YouToube TV trial. 85 channels including local stations thru my Roku device. If i like it the first month is only $14.99
need to find a new vpn service too. Microcenter has an in-store offer for NovdVPN (my current provider) for $99 for 3 years. Sweet deal if you ask me!

I live in Australia and the only cable/Satellite service we have is Foxtel, and every 6 months they make you play the "Threaten to quit" game or they bump up the price 25%. So frustrating, the only reason I need it is for the F1 in 4K otherwise it would be gone as every other show on there is rubbish compared to all the streaming services and the quality is 2nd rate as 99% of it is HD at best. There is no other way to get F1 in 4K : (
And don't get me started on the Flintstone style internet here in Oz, the fastest speed available to most consumers is 100mbps and that will set you back around $80 - $100AUD.

We have DirecTV stream and we are grandfathered into a plan that no longer exist. Overall it is fine, and cheaper than cable, but honestly not by much at all. The only benefit is I do not have to rent "cable boxes" in what ever rooms I would want as it runs through my apple TV.

Signed up for Youtube TV. Will be heading to the local Spectrum office when they open today to return my DVR box ($12.99 monthly savings) and cancel my cable plan before the price increase of $59 starts on Sunday.
So far no issues watching TV thru ROKU thru Youtube TV so far. stay tuned for updates on my journey

I’m stuck with Optimum for now (as are many) but I make the best out of it with the sharpest plan I could come up with and I renew that cable modem every couple of years. Those things cook (get real hot) an mine was getting glitchy, so I stopped in to my local office for a swap. The office girl who was reading off a memorized script, starts telling me the problem is that I have to get the higher tier service and give them more money. My non upgrade replacement modem solved the problem. They can keep their upgrade (pinging at 210/215

In Nashville we have enough competition to get fast cable for a decent price so after securing that, finding material to stream is pretty easy. Even IMDB streams content.

I cancelled my comcast cable around 2008 and really haven't regretted it much.A medium-sized attic antenna and internet connection is all you really need.Between OTA , Pluto, Peacock and Youtube there are a zillion great things to watch.
