I have not been reading the boards for a couple of years. My original XMC1 has been almost flawless for several years until the last year or two. I’ve had a few random issues where it would lock up and freeze requiring a full reboot. In the last month or so I have had a couple of instances where some of the HDMI inputs would show a flicker. At first I thought this was a cable issue until I switched them around and it’s still existed. Again a full reboot solve this problem. It has only happened a couple of times but I’m betting it will continue here and there.
It’s all original. No updated hdmi board or anything. Running firmware 3.1 from 2105 😱 Running a Sony projector (non-4K) so no reason for me to update anything.
Even with these few hiccups it’s been pretty rock solid, so my question is whether a firmware update would likely resolve these issues or if it would introduce other issues which would drive me nuts.
PS no new equipment or cables have been added that would lead me to believe they caused the issues.

You’re confusing UHD (and your projector) with keeping firmware for the original form of the XMC updated. First thing I would do before anything is to update to V. 4.1, the last one to go with before swapping out the original board.
