Hi All Just a quick question for those in the know. Is it possible to use one channel from a Basx 7 power amp and a PA1 mono power amp on a biwireble center speaker such as a SVS Ultra center? If so which amp would be best suited to H/F and L/F duties? Thanks

The first issue you might have is different amp sensitivities (I haven’t looked at specs), but if one amp is more sensitive, whatever driver it’s hooked up to will be louder, and it’s not simple to balance it. So the question becomes, will you get enough (or any) benefit doing what you propose?

I’d say, if your L/R are being driven by the BasX, then you should drive the center channel the same way — unless possibly the center channel speaker is considerably different than the L/R. Still, bi-amping is best reserved for specific situations and speakers where it’s known to be beneficial.

If it is the SVS ultra you’ve got, then it’s a perfect ticket. That speaker would do nothing but benefit by the headroom (used with discretion.) I would try the Basx on top first and the PA for the low end

Is it possible? Sure. Is it plug and play? Maybe. Is it likely to gain you much? No.

It never ever hurts. Does it really help on the day to day? Most likely you may not notice it. Try and see. Usually actively bi-amping is the ticket if you do this at all. And I agree run PA-1 for the lows and run the BAS-X all else.
