Improving My Sofa's Acoustics

I have a twin seat reclining leather sofa with a center console, which has a superfluous padded back which protrudes proud of the two seat backs, so, it's in the way acoustically, but hadn't yet done anything about it until today. When I measured with a mic I draped a blanket over the leather surfaces, and especially that center console back padding.
Today I finally removed the "back" of the center console section and voila', much nicer! There's more ambience now on my right (I sit on the left seat). And I will be able to see the person on my right better while reclined. Acoustically this is already an improvement. Also, with that center back removed, what is left is pretty well finished looking, so if I want to leave it that way it would be perfectly fine.
When I know I'm going to be listening to music for hours I've draped a throw blanket over the headrest of my seat so I can rest my head and get an improved experience, this will continue due to the leather behind my head. Yes, leather is not acoustically beneficial, it just lasts a long time and is easy to keep clean.
edit: And, I have a lot more space for my right arm and can now use my computer on top of the console perfectly!!
