Hello good people,
I'm currently running my TT through a Denon DRA-800H and using Zone 2 to amplify with my Emotiva XPA- Gen 3. I recently got the XPA, and using Zone 2, while easy for me, is unfortunately too complicated for my wife to figure out (believe me I've tried). I have the Emobucks from the XPA, so I can potentially grab the BasX PT100 for under $200.00. This would seem like a much easier way for general usage since there aren't so many nuances to operating the stereo and she just has to turn it on. Plus is has the trigger option (which the Denon does not).
That said, my main goal is to keep the sound the same. I.e. If I can make things easier for the wife to operate, and not sacrifice sound quality, I'd almost certainly pull the trigger right away on the swap. I'll probably buy a better preamp as some point, but that may be a year or so off at this point.
Does anyone have any experience comparing the BasX PT100 with any Denon AVRs? The AVRs have a lot more bells and whistles, but we recently got rid of cable (and I'm not even using a blu-ray player) so the only connections to the Pre are the digital optical from the TV, Bluetooth for streaming, and the Turntable.
I have nice - Wharfedale EVO 4.4 towers and a Klipsch sub. It seems like I should be able to properly manage the bass by either using the LP crossover on the sub, or just letting the pre crossover at 90hz. I'd like to use the towers as much as possible since they really are the stars of the system.
Anyone have any suggestions or experience comparing the sound? Or have any interest in buying the Denon off me lol? Or, for that matter, comparing the BasX pre to any other AVRs?
