I have firmware 5.4.... anyone know if I can upgrade to 5.15 directly?
The announcement suggests anything 4.1 and below should not be, but anything 5.xx and above can be. Is 5.4 a 5.x or 5.11 a 5.xx? Asked support but they said it may take 3-5 business days to respond.

I was able to upgrade from 5.4 to 5.8 to 5.15. However, after upgrading, I am having an issue (new thread) with the XMC not able to turn on with the last set input - have to switch to another input and back before I get video and audio.

Have you tried powering down with the rear switch....wait five minutes or so, and power back up? Not sure if this will do anything but worth a shot.

If I connect Firestick to my TV and do an Optical out to the XMC-1, then it works fine but I really want to have all connect to the XMC and feed the TV/XPA-5 from there.

Yes, have tried this 3 times, including unplugging from wall socket.

Emotiva used to be good at responding to support requests, but haven't heard anything from the two support requests I submitted re this matter. They also used to monitor these boards and respond here as well before.

Keith is pretty much the main responder here and there is no guarantee he will pick up on your inquiry, however he is very responsive. Remember this is a User's Forum, but we do much appreciate the company chiming in as much as they do. Have you tried calling Emotiva support? I usually call is I need a quick response.

Do you have a set "turn on input" set...for example I have my XMC-2 set to always turn on with Directv. Then I can switch to whatever I want from there. Or do you have it set to "last watched".... Thanks....ttocs may have some additional input here...

As far as we know there should be no problems with upgrading directly from 5.4 to 5.15 as long as the update itself "works".
The only issue we know of is with the actual name of the update file itself. Previous to that we changed the default name of the update file... Because of this, some older firmware refuses to "see" the new firmware update file on the USB stick, and you need to change the name of the file before the processor will recognize it. HOWEVER, if you have this problem, the processor reports "no update file", and the update doesn't proceed. As long as the processor sees the update file, and does the update, you should be OK.
(So, as long as you were able to successfully update the processor, using the update file, there shouldn't be any problem.)

The update went through fine, it is working, just that the input needs to switched to another channel and back before it shows. I need to re-calibrate my Dirac as I moved, so maybe I will reset the XMC and try again with a clean factory boot?

You could definitely give that a go...is it only one certain input that causes the issue....or is it all? Curious. Edit: Also, maybe try setting a specific input to come on with powerup and see what that does, if anything. You could also send Keith a message explaining the issue as he did not pick up on what the problem was when he responded.
