Just listened to this Sound United video on YouTube. If you think you know everything there is to know about HDMI, I’m here to tell you “You Don’t”. Lots of misconceptions & mis-information out there and this video sets a lot of that straight. Yes, I know it’s 1hr 36 min, but if you have the time, I found this video to be quite informative.

I don't know much of anything about HDMI, so, what little I know is even less then, right?
Actually, I've watched this one before and it's great! Lots of info to absorb.

WOW!!! It's made even worse by the fact that 4k devices make it very hard to know what versions of HDMI and HDR they support. Even flagship OLEDs like LG. Their key features are listed: "Self-lighting OLED: Perfect Black, Intense Color, Infinite Contrast α7 Gen4 AI Processor w/ AI Picture & Sound". Now how useful was that Vs "OLED TV with Dolby Vision HLG, HDR-10 and HDMI 2.1 with a peak brightness of 700 nits". www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-oled77a1pua-oled-4k-tv

HDMI is a good idea in theory. Unfortunately some manufacturers get sloppy with implementing and makes the whole chain unreliable. My biggest complaint of HDMI.org is not requiring cables to be frequency & bandwidth labeled. I have a bag of cable and don't know what some of them are, especially ones that are packaged with an A/V product. I found Sony HDMI products to be pretty consistent, though they don't label cables either. DTV & Roku is inconsistent in my opinion. 4K forget it Until XMC-1 board failure, these are my results with HDMI: Sony UBP-X800 > XMC > Sony XBR65X900H TV, no problems with 4K Ultra HD Roku or DTV > XMC > XBR65X900H TV sometimes they worked other times a pita even with 1080p and 2.0 cables HTPC > XMC > XBR65X900H TV mostly good, sometimes a pc reboot needed. If I connect everything to TV inputs, they usually work, but not always. Makes me guess it's the connections which I've cleaned all with De-Oxit. HDMI should be designed with a better locking system on the plugs to prevent movement, tighter fit.
The best HDMI cable is 2 meters, not shorter???
