Yes! Dr. Strange 3D rendering is awesome! The original Pirates of the Caribbean is also on the way! The original Predator reprocessed in 3D along with its revamped lossless audio is tremendous Ear and Eye candy if you get the chance. Where did you hear the original Pirates of the Caribbean is on the way? I haven't been able to find any information on a 3D version. Given Disney's waning support for 3D,it seems unlikely. They were reportedly going to release the first 4 in a box set in like 2014, but it never happened AFAIK. It would be nice if the industry would do 4K 3D (That would give an actual purpose to 8K sets as you could have full resolution 4K Passive 3D on them. I've got 263 3D Blurays so I'm not buying another projector that doesn't support 3D. You are right….back when I wrote that there was still some talk/hope of offering the original film in a 3D rendering like Predator, even though it wasn’t shot in 3D. Now it appears that hope is lost and Disney has bigger problems now to deal with. Right now I can’t even find what I had originally read about it. Tonight I charged up my glasses to watch Exodus: Gods and Kings….. Instead, I fell asleep 💤

My girlfriend and I love 3D. Last night we watched Hugo 3D on my Sony VLP-HW40ES projector on a 120" screen. Coupled with my 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound, the movie was very immersive. I don't mind the glasses or the dimmer picture, because the image is so sharp and clear. I know a lot of you do not care for 3D. That's fine, but for those of us who do, why rain on our parade?

Warms my heart ❤️ to read this! Hugo IS filled with eye candy 🍭! Many of the 3D titles don’t suffer much from the “dim” factor to any large degree. Such is the case with Exodus: Gods and Kings, that we finally revisited last night. The 3D effect when the “plagues” come on board is absolutely startling.

Wonderful to see a blockbuster such as this appear in the midst of all the “Dead 3D” hoop La! Lots of us STILL have the gear and derive great enjoyment from such…. View AttachmentUpdate….finally, after starting this thread a few months back, I got my 3D copy DUNE. Some of the most stellar 3D reviews to date on this flick, so I’m savoring the moment. (Hopefully this weekend).

Finally got to “hear” this film…..jaw dropping audio from beginning to end credits….couldn’t tear myself away. 3D was fantastic but Hans Zimmer took the cake with that music score.

Yes, it's the same director as Blade Runner 2049 that also had an incredible soundtrack for bass in particular. Thor: Love & Thunder is supposed to come out in 3D+4K in Japan near the end of October. I've read it's got an actual quality Atmos soundtrack for a change (you'd have to remux the Atmos track off the 4K disc, though). I think it still has bass filtered below 30Hz, unfortunately.

View AttachmentI've always loved 3D movies, however we have the right to choose. 3D in Europe took off massively, I have a large collection of 3D titles at home. However I am dismayed how 3D was perceived as a gimmick. The Movie, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, was a movie I saw as a child, now I own it as a 3D movie and it's great. The electronics industry is contemplating bringing 3D back in some form to TV'S and projectors. Experiments in glassless 3D is gaining momentum, 3D has a place in our entertainment hearts.

The “gimmick” perception comes (I think) From images like this that conjure up when the subject is contemplated.
I have great fun, both my wife and I with the 3-D collection and it is of course a “to each his own” thing…… Who cares what anybody else thinks? If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s fine too. I had not heard lately if there was any concerted effort to re-effort three dimension in films and equipment, but after what you said, I’m looking forward to going back and catching up on my reading!
