As Emotiva moves forward and we look to create the next generation of Airmotiv speakers, we are curious what your preferences would be in speaker finishes. We have a poll up for some basic options but we are open to your input if you have examples.
Also, would you be willing to pay more for a speaker if it had a higher-end finish?

Oiled wood finish. My JBL L-110 speakers still looked great when I stopped using them at 32 years old. Plus, an oiled finish is easy to maintain and fix minor scuffs, if needed. Gloss finishes are too easily damaged.

I like the current finish used on the T2+, they don't draw too much attention and seem to hold up well. My cats jump on top of them every day.
No interest in a gloss/piano finish, that would steer me away. Would not pay much extra for a higher end finish, they are speakers not art pieces. I would rather the extra money go into performance, not aesthetics.
The poll would be more useful if you could select more than one finish. I would prefer either black or dark wood, but don't prefer one over the other, so I have not voted.
It would be nice to have a larger B2+ for rears. Surface mount ceiling speakers would also be handy.
Also, speaker brackets that can angle down further would be appreciated for those of us that need to mount the rear speakers higher. This would help place the listening position within the tweeters sweet spot.

Personally, I like the flat black matte on the previous Stealth line. So, I voted ‘Other’.

Hi, of course the sound quality is most important ! But the finish should look as good as they sound. So, for the top line I would like to see no cheap looking plastic but for example aluminium stands/base plate, with the choice of spikes or absorbing feets. I think most of us would buy a non glossy box for homecinema.
I own a pair of Linn Keltik and its always a joy to look at the perfect finish of these old loudspeakers.

How about the same matte finish in some other colors, as long as they're modern/trendy and not crayon-bright like toys? You could coordinate the grilles with some color. Thinking of KEF and a few others.

White please ! I would really like a white Emotiva B1+ Do I think finishes are important? Yes. But there are quite a few of us who care more about whats inside and what actually comes out. You know who makes great looking speakers ? Jamo, the little S 801 in white or any of the other colors have a nice finish, and they don't cost a mint either. Too bad they don't sound as good as they look. I know two tones when out in the 50's and 60's at least for cars, but they are making a comeback. Jamo is a good example.

I vote that the awkward angles are removed, that looks more at home in a teens bedroom and is not exactly WAF friendly if she's into candles and fine dining.

I vote for Olive Burl. Thats beautiful but I’d really need to see it implemented as I think that it’s a little too busy for me personally. If this is an example of Light wood then I have changed my vote to dark wood. I so love the color and grain of the Rosewood color of my Paradigm Studio 100’s V5. sawmill beach

Hey Nick, Thanks for getting input on this. Personally I would be more than willing to pay more for a speaker line with a higher-end finish. To me this is implying that the speaker line would be going above/beyond the current Airmotiv line and offer higher end features/drivers/speaker terminals/etc/etc as well as finishes. While glossy finishes(like piano finishes) look really nice they are a pain in the *bleep* due to dust/finger prints, so finishes not so shiny/more on the matte side are preferable. Dark cherry, natural cherry, dark & lighter walnut are probably what many here would prefer.

Quick question, I have two x RS13 subs and I love the Matte Black finish on these, I have never seen the current Airmotiv speakers in person, are they of similar finish to the the RS13's? If so then maybe I should grab some, if not then my vote would be to match the subs in the Matte Black as this finish is very modern and easy to match with other things and would match my RS-13's!

I purchased a second hand pair of Onix Reference 2 towers and center channel simply because they looked so gorgeous in birds-eye maple (not quite just for the looks, I had a pair of the bookshelves already so I knew the small versions sounded really good). So I voted for light wood :-). Attachment Deleted

I really like the current finish on the Airmotiv line and wouldn't change a thing there. I think paying a premium for a higher end finish makes sense if one wants to do that, but a higher end finish should not be the only offering on the next line up of this line of speakers.

I'm personally kinda tired of the "Darth Vader" or "Stealth" look more than anything, but I'd order something like this in a New York minute...

Anything speaker for surround sound system, I want performance not looks (the lights are dimmed) I'm fine with the matte vinyl wrap. Two channel is different, I want options. The veneer must be done well or it looks cheap & won't be interested paying a premium. Not into the Fisher-Price look either.

I like the idea of vinyl "wood type" finishes. Maybe a dark wood, light wood, and then of course matte black. I also would like to see better speaker connectors. I don't think this would add much to the overall cost of the speaker, especially if you are not using real wood finishes.
I do like the glossy finishes, but they can be distracting, though I think I would get used to it.

I would and have paid extra for a nicer or custom finish. It just depends on how much over the price of the standard finish.
I'm not a fan of glossy finishes. Sure they look pretty in a show room, but glossy for me always seems to get smudged up two seconds after cleaning. Also, every speck of dust seems to show up on them.

I vote for Dark Wood and Black but it wouldn't let me select the second finish.
