Greetings and thank you in advance for any suggestions. I have an XMC-1 with two zones and two TVs. The zone 2 on triggers on a pair of amps for the outdoor bar. I have each TV, the one in the livingroom and the one in the outdoor bar coming out of the two HDMI outs on the XMC-1. Right now, I have two universal remotes, one of the outdoor bar that controls the outdoor TV and the Zone 2 on the XMC-1.
I want to have the outdoor bar TV power on and off from the Zone 2 trigger that powers on the Zone 2 amps.
I tried unplugging the TV and plugging it back in but the TV did not power back on, so a simple 120v relay won't work. The bar TV is a smart TV and has the option to power on when I HDMI signal is present. I have this turned off as I don't want the outdoor TV on when Zone two is not on. Can the 2nd HDMI out on the XMC-1 be turned off and on with Zone 2? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Since you can’t switch the power to turn on the TV (which isn’t that unusual, unless there’s an option like some computers have to “resume on power failure”), I’d think you’ll need to use an IR or IP solution. If your TV has an IR in you could run a cable from the IR out on the XMC, but you’d also need something like a Harmony or other Universal remote to create a macro, this would send a “power on/off” IR command to the TV based on the “Activity” selected on the remote. The only way I could see the XMC’s actual ‘Trigger’ output working would be if the TV has a ‘trigger in’ which controls the TV’s on/off function. I don’t think this is common on most mainstream TVs.

I wonder if something like this would work: Broadlink New Red Bean RM Mini 3 All-in-One IR Universal Remote Control Compatible with Alexa
I would need to have some smart home device such as a switched outlet power on with the Zone 2 trigger and then make an routeen in Alexa. Seems like too many steps but could work.
I may be able to contoll the bar tv directly from Alexa without the blaster. Just need something to link the trigger from the XMC-1 to Alexa. I have some Konnected modules that translate wire connections to wifi for Smartthings. That might do it.

OK - Boom, got it! I got a $5 relay and ran a trigger wire to the powered side from the Zone 2 amp. The non-powered side closes or opens a loop connected to my Konnected control panel in my security closet that is hooked up to my Smartthings hub and Alexa. I now have a smart device called AV Zone 2 that goes on and off with the Emotiva Zone 2 amp. From there I got a WiFi remote for $20 for the outdoor bar and made a Alexa routine to turn the outdoor tv on and off with the Zone 2 amp.
Works great, the kids kept leaving out outdoor TV on. I would turn off the Zone 2 in the house but not go out back to the outdoor bar to check the TV. Now the Emotiva XMC-1 zone 2 controls the outdoor TV power.
