My unit’s display gradually reduced brightness. Now I can’t see any display at all
Several email exchange with Emotiva seems to show the replacement part is not available, at least they don’t stock this part
Anyone can help?
Thanks

It may not be the display itself. Assuming the XMC-1 is out of warranty, ask them what the cost would be for them to diagnose and repair.

Maybe finding an XMC-1 in a ‘parts only’ status and trying to replace it yourself would be a solution? (though you’d need to know the display wasn’t their problem too).

A lot of monitors and TVs fail with fading displays because the power supply capacitors die over time. A good tech may be able to figure out if that is the problem. I have fixed an old TV and the display in our oven that suffered from bad capacitors. The oven I was able to figure out with the help of a friend who actually found a YouTube video; Amazon sold capacitor kits for our TV. We replace them in monitors and on graphics cards all the time at work (our servers and test PCs run 24/7).

UUGG! (I hope that doesn’t happen to me?!?) I had that with my Sunfire Theater Grand II with the Unit lights fading into oblivion over time….never fixed it. Fortunately, the OSD hung in there.

From the replies looks like no lead to the spare part
But at least I see some of hope of repairing it
Will send the unit to a local repair shop hope it is just the power supply / capacitors issues
Thanks

I use full shut down rather than standby on the XMC1…. The main reason for this is the “ longevity long haul “….perhaps it will make no difference at all, but when I’m not using the thing, I want the least amount of what’s in there getting juice unless I’m there to see it and hear it. So, it takes a bit longer to boot up, but MAYBE, I’ll get some extra mileage out of it as a whole, including the OSD. It sucks, watching a component display fade into the sunset.
A interesting note about the XMC OSD just for fun and I have noted this in the past…..If you power off at 💯 percent OSD “brightness” the amber glowing power switch remains brighter after shut down, than if you power off with the display brightness at zero.

The thing is I actually have a BNIB rmc-1 too Seeing that a crucial part like the display screen for xmc-1 is not stocked provide zip confidence for the future of rmc-1. Sigh.

I understand how you feel. That being said, yours is the first I’ve read about (here) with a failed screen display. Mine is into its eighth year without a problem. I don’t believe it’s reason enough to jump ship on the RMC. Why still boxed?

Why still boxed? 1 40% discount card on RMC-1 2 no 4K display yet 3 no atmos yet 4 Xmc-1 still sounded awesome 5 emotiva has not solved the pop issue with DSD

If the processor otherwise functions with no issues it’s probably (1) capacitor on the board to the front end or (not likely) a loose ribbon connector.

I've done nothing. I haven't turned anything on in months. The menu still showed on the tv screen.
