Number 9....Number 9....Number 9.... Our group is responsible for playing music at one of the chairlifts, our supervisor’s playlist was on a couple weeks ago and that came on. One of my coworkers (my age) had never heard that song, and made a huge deal about how strange it was … yeah, ok, for 1968!

Number 9....Number 9....Number 9.... That’s a great answer! I really enjoyed the first albums from the Beatles (the “Roll Over Beethoven” days ) when I was a kid. I had no use for much that came from them later. I picked up this solo effort from Harrison in 1987. Until today, I didn’t recall the Album title was Cloud 9!

To answer your question, Mr. novisnick, the consensus on the internet seems to be that the 1978 UK white vinyl pressing is the best. Good luck finding one, though... Particularly if you're wanting one sans scratches, warps, and dust bunnies. Also, be prepared to shell out $$$ for a copy. Happy hunting! Boom

Is it correct that starting with Sgt Pepper’s, the album song selection between the UK/EMI/Parlophone realease, and the US/Capitol release, were the same? Prior to that, the US releases were modified for content and ‘feeling’, sometimes different albums altogether. The White Album as far as I know contained the same songs on both sides of the pond, but my memories of “Rubber Soul” and “Revolver” are often jarred when listening to the 9/9/09 EMI digital remix, not the sound (which I like), but the song order and selection. While the EMI releases are considered the ‘purist’ or ‘gold standard’, as Patrick O’Brian’s Captain Aubrey would say “the men like what they know”.

Boom Thanks so much but I have no hope or desire to go that route, always a compromise when searching for vintage. I’ve read that the Usher is pretty good. Mono version was stated to be excellent but with the same hope of grasping Angels.😳

Actually, I think I have a neighbor who has a copy. Whether he's willing to sell (or at what price) I don't know. Want me to ask?

I have been told that the Japanese pressing from the 1970s is quite good. I say I have been told because I have never seen such a thing and make do with a clean but compressed American pressing. Finding one is really the interesting part of the hunt for any of these. Best I could find on Discogs was $85.

Pepper's the song track order was the same. The Capitol release "Hey Jude" was a compilation album release only in U.S. markets.

I’m in need of a good/great pressing of this LP, which is your favorite? I've really enjoyed the remaster from Giles. YMMV
