Hi,
Got a new Asus laptop running Windows 11. I've installed Dirac Live for emotiva, version 1.10.xxx the latest. When i run the program it identifies the XMC on my network and pops up a message with its IP address when i click ok the app doesn't respond any more. it seems like the app is running but doesn't accept any keyboard / mouse event.
will appreciate your help if you encountered something similar... thanks

I also bought a new win10s laptop. Upgraded it to windows 10 [non S mode] to allow install of Dirac and other non MS programs. Installed Dirac without issue, upgraded to win 11 and Dirac opens, haven't tried it out yet. Win 11 isn't listed as approved, but functionally is the same as win10. That said, hope 11 works. BTW, the version you mention is not the newest. V 3.2.2 confluence.dirac.services/plugins/servlet/mobile?contentId=159573166#content/view/159573166Apologies, didn't catch you were using XMC1; I have XMC2. Mobile doesn't show signatures with equipment configuration. I probably need to change a configuration setting for that.

Dirac 3.2.2 is for the G3P, XMC-2/RMC-1L/RMC-1.
I believe Dirac Ver 1.x is for XMC-1. As such, I can understand how it might have difficulty running under much later OS. This would be a question for Dirac. They are very helpful to support questions.

The response I got from DIRAC support isn't that good... they say XMC-1 uses a dirac implementation that isn't supported by them, only by Emotiva.
This means versions 3.x will never support XMC-1 and Dirac Live is supported only by Emotiva --> I don't see how they will change the source code / recompile to make it work on Win 11...

Too bad. Sorry.
This won't help you, but I've had lots of apps that reached end of life, whether by being superseded by too new an OS (on either Mac or Windows) or a no longer supported platform (cell phone apps mostly). Some were very expensive apps, a couple of which I knew were not compatible with a newer OS so I kept old computing equipment just so those apps could breathe a bit longer.
In your case it'll mean backstopping to a previous OS version.

A great way to find out support for Win 11, is to reach out to Emotiva Support and ask for information as well as an ETA as to when possibly DIRAC will be ported to Win 11, also reach out DIRAC directly.

I've sent a message to emotiva support as well... no response yet

You might consider a Windows 10 VM running under Windows 11 for legacy apps like the older version of Dirac you want to run. Since Windows 10 is still a viable solution, I wouldn’t expect anyone to put much effort into making 11 compatible (the current version of Dirac is another matter, and I would expect Dirac to make this work).

Gotta LOVE WIN 11….. Ever since it came out, all I’ve been told is what I CANT do with it. Sticking with 10 as long as it is supported. That’s the other love letter I got from Windows update….my beautifully running machine would be relegated to the junk pile with Win. 11. getyarn.io/yarn-clip/454ea720-0a50-4a38-bef0-b098ae5ea917

Dirac live for the XMC-1 is a special build for Emotiva, back when Dirac used to build specific versions for units/manufacturers. They have since moved to one version of the software that is integrated with a variety of manufacturers and products, but the XMC-1 Dirac version is specifically built for the XMC-1. It is not the same as the Dirac Live 3 software that is used for the XMC-2/RMC-1/L processors, which is currently still updated and supported by Dirac. But the version for the XMC-1 will no longer receive updates, and the XMC-1 will not be able to run the most current versions of Dirac Live.
The product page for Dirac Live for Emotiva for the XMC-1 lists operating systems for compatibility, and Windows 11 is specifically not supported. It will let you install and run the software, but you may find that you are unable to type in any of the boxes to validate the software. We have tested, and it simply will not work on Windows 11 and will not be updated to do so, as the software is what it is at this point and will not be receiving future compatibility updates. Windows 10 is recommended.
From product specs: "Both Dirac Live LE and Dirac Live Full for Emotiva have the same system requirements.
On an Apple computer:
- Operating system: from Mavericks (10.9) thru El Capitan (10.11); Yosemite (10.10) recommended
NOTE: Dirac Live does NOT run on Sierra (10.12) or High Sierra (10.13)
- At least 2 GB RAM (4 Gb preferred)
- At least 100 MB available hard disk or SSD space
- At least one USB port
- Network and Internet connection (WiFi or wired Ethernet)
On a Microsoft Windows computer:
- Operating system: Windows 10 (Does not work with Windows 7 or Windows 11).
- At least a dual core i3, i5, or i7 processor
- At least 2 GB RAM (4 Gb preferred)
- At least 100 MB available hard disk or SSD space
- At least one USB port
- Network and Internet connection (WiFi or wired Ethernet)"
