Hello,
Got such monoblocks recently. Is it possible to make DR2 from DR1 by adding amp module? Power supply is the same in these models?

Yes... Up to three differentially balanced blades can mounted within a "DR" series chassis. The DR power supply will support them. However, this upgrade must be performed by Emotiva or a facility authorized by Emotiva if you are outside of the USA.

And what price is for one blade? Is there any online shop where i can buy 3 such blades? The difference in cost between a one and two blade model is $400, but as Doc’s previous post stated, you can only get the boards as part of a factory or dealer upgrade.

And what price is for one blade? Is there any online shop where i can buy 3 such blades? AudioHTIT's estimate sounds correct on the cost per blade, but there are also shipping fees added to the upgrade pricing. You'll need to contact Emotiva for a direct quote. When I upgraded my XPA-5 to become an XPA-9 (by adding two stereo blades), the cost then was $200 per blade, plus $50 shipping, plus sales tax on the blades. The total cost of my upgrade was $474. However, that upgrade was done in July, 2019, and I'm sure costs have went up since then. I'm also a USA resident where this service can be performed much easier than someone who resides outside of the continental USA. In any case, this service must be performed by Emotiva (or an authorized service facility) as there are potetially lethal risks involved. Emotiva will not relinquish responsibility to the end-user no matter how technically savvy the end user is. So if you want this upgrade, there is only one way to get it... There is also certain testing performed on your unit both before and after the upgrade to ensure that your unit performs as designed. Here is a excerpt from the email sent to me prior to shipping my XPA-5 back to them for the XPA-9 upgrade... "The XPA amplifier modules you purchased must be installed by an Emotiva technician. When your XPA-5 arrives it will be run through a comprehensive testing procedure before it goes back home to you. Your upgrade installation will be expedited and shipped back to you as soon as possible."FWIW, the entire process (for me) took a total of 10 days. That's from the day that I shipped it until the day I received it back. But again, that was mid-year 2019. Good luck to you and I hope this helps...

Did the total cost referenced include shipping your amp to Emotiva? Or was that additional?

Did the total cost referenced include shipping your amp to Emotiva? Or was that additional? Both ways using "their" UPS shipping pricing. I received a shipping label the same day that I placed the upgrade order. And by the way, XPA amplifier upgrades can only be ordered by phone (or maybe by email for non-USA residents). EDIT: But again, those shipping rates were based on mid 2019 (pre-Covid) pricing...

I have an XPA-5 Gen 3 that if all goes according to plan, would like to update for Atmos purposes to include the ability to run four ceiling speakers. That won't be for another couple years when we retire and move however. Assuming I would go with two stereo blades....

Trust me, if those four amplifier channels are only feeding halfway efficient atmospheric effects speakers, the stereo blades will perform nicely. My cheap little Micca's are still in the "negative" trim territory at reference...

My cheap little Micca's are still in the "negative" trim territory at reference... How do you like the Micca's? For what they are and for what I use them for, I think they're perfect. At $50 per speaker, you could spend three times the money and still not attain an appreciable difference. I've tried another well respected brand and sent them back because the M-8's were just as good and were 1/3rd of the price. There are certainly better speakers out there that I could afford, but I've had the Micca M-8C's in my ceiling for three years and don't see myself replacing them anytime soon. Not even to match my Airmotiv bed channels with Airmotiv Vaultas...

Those Atoms speakers take such a minimal amount of wattage that there is no need for another amp, the XPA-9 drives them perfectly

Thank you for answeres. There is authorized service facility in my city, but they have some problems = they cant buy modules from Emotiva. I would like to buy modules myself to my US postal address and send them to me by myself. Does somebody know where i can buy them in US? Or i should contact direct ti Emotiva?

They can only be sourced from Emotiva directly. There’s nowhere where they can be legally purchased simply because Emotiva wouldn’t sell or distribute them to a third party who is not authorized by them to perform a repair or upgrade. If I were in your situation, I would take it upon myself to contact Emotiva directly to explain my situation and to get the process started. They will tell you how and where to go from there…

i wrote to sales@emotiva.com That's a good start, but you may not get a response as quickly as you might like. The fastest way to an answer is by calling them. I know you're an overseas customer, but Emotiva's offices open at 9AM CST here in the USA. If I'm correct, that would make the time in your location somewhere close to 4PM. From a time perspective, that's "doable" I would think...

This brings up an interesting question, if say I had my XPA-7G3 ‘modified’ to be an XPA-11 (remove 4 mono boards, install 4 stereo boards), what would happen to the 4 mono boards? Would Emo give them a trade in value and keep them? Or would they return them to me (as I should be the actual owner)?
Edit: I suppose a third option would be to give my complete XPA-7 a trade in value toward a new (or refurbished) XPA-11?
