This brings up an interesting question, if say I had my XPA-7G3 ‘modified’ to be an XPA-11 (remove 4 mono boards, install 4 stereo boards), what would happen to the 4 mono boards? Would Emo give them a trade in value and keep them? Or would they return them to me (as I should be the actual owner)? Edit: I suppose a third option would be to give my complete XPA-7 a trade in value toward a new (or refurbished) XPA-11? The blades that are replaced are not returned. I'm guessing that they are tested and retained as service replacements for other units. Since they don't charge anything additional for the labor to perform the upgrade or for recertification testing, I'm okay with not getting them back. I'm not sure what I'd do with them anyway... Your third option seems feasible as it would provide a brand new warranty. The warranty clock doesn't reset with an upgraded unit.

They can sell blades: the DR1 unit you would only be able to add an additional two modules. the cost of these two modules would be $478 each.

They will sell them to who… their authorized service facility or you, the end user, presumably for self install…? If they are selling them directly to you, then that’s certainly an interesting reversal of their upgrade policy…
