I’m thinking of making the jump over to the new BasX processor, and have built a new dedicated home theater/music room with 7.2 surround with wiring for more channels if I’d like.
I had an old lexicon processor I was using before, along with some older amps, and had purchased a Sherbourn amp (5x200) back in 2012 with the idea of buying another 5 channel Sherbourn for the planned jump to 7.2/9.2
Well life gets in the way and all of a sudden it’s 2022 and Sherbourn is outta business. The 5 channel amp I do have is still NIB, and from light research it shows it is still a fantastic amp.
My question is…since I cannot find a Sherbourn 2 channel amp to pair with my 5 channel amp, should I just sell my 5x200 and start over with amps I can match together (or buy a 7 channel amp)? I’m not sure if another amp would sonically match with the Sherbourn? Am I worrying about something that I don’t need to worry about?
Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I don't think the current amps are a worthy replacement for your Sherbourn. Personally, I think the addition of some wides would not affect much in terms of amplification. So I would stick with your Sherbourn amps and just buy some Bas-x amps for the ones you don't need. One thing you will have to check is what is the gain on the Sherbourn amps. I think the BAs-x is 29db. Your Sherbourns are either 29 or 32db. These gain levels if they are different are adjustable on whatever processor you'll use. What kind of speakers are you planning on using? I believe there was somebody selling a high power Sherbourn amp on this forum. I think it was the seven channel version.

But...the current amps aren't bad if that's what you're wondering...

I’m using Paradigm Monitors across the front, with Paradigm in walls for side and surrounds. I wasn’t even aware of the gain, I’m very happy I posted the question because I’d hate to sell the Sherbourn and give up a really good (new) amp due to lack of knowledge.

db21964 welcome to the most wonderful lounge on the interwebs! Great knowledgeable folks that are fire and most helpful. The Sherbourn brand made outstanding gear that originally came with 10 year warranties. Love that amp you have. EMOTIVA has been making great amps that are of wonderful quality. Let me be the first to buy you a tall glass of Emo Blue. Welcome to the gang!

I'll add my confidence in the Sherbourn amps. Running three 7-channel amps in my audio system with no problems at all. Love the sound and the look. And the Emotiva XMC-2 manages them very well.

How LONG has the amp been sitting it its box?
TOO long, like maybe anything over 5 to 8 years and you'll want to bring the amp up SLOWLY using a variac......
Your post shows 10years? PS caps don't age well when just sitting......
Your local repair guy might be able to help with this. Any decent repair shop Should have a variac......
Thought cwmcobra, above, using a LOT of power with those highly sensitive Klipsch doesn't make a whole lot of sense.....
The ST70 with the Hersey is a LOT better power match...and probably still never runs the amp out of steam....
