Just ordered the LG G1 65 inch TV and need to raise it above my center channel height 15 inches. What do you recommend I put under to support the stand? Any suggestions? My current TV is from 2004.

I built a platform for my TV using 3/4" plywood for the top (doubled, heavy TV) and 2"x4" for the legs. Spray-painted black to match my console though you could make it any color. Cheap and easy.

I would wall mount it, I’ve enjoyed mine being on a multi swivel wall mount. Enjoy your new TV, very excellent selection. 🎉

I agree with novisnick, if you can wall mount it that's the best way to go and quite clean. It takes a little bit of planning, especially if you're running all of the cabling in-wall.

I made my own “box” platform. Painted black. Works great. My tv is in a corner, so difficult to wall mount.

With a mount like this one the TV does not need to to be flush against the wall, it can be pulled out as much as 18" or more inches from the wall and angled as needed. Looks cleaner than a stand and makes it easier to move the furniture below if needed. The TV could be just above the center channel speaker.
