So the fire tv does not have the codes for the TA-1. And none of the 20 built in E Emotiva codes appear to work. Additionally the built in learning function continually loops due to a software bug so it won’t learn the remote.
This may be eventually resolved by amazon either by adding the new codes or by fixing the loop bug.
WorkAround: I primarily need only two functions on the FireTV remote - Power and Volume. With my workaround, Power is working 50% of the time and volume is working perfect.
In firetv go to settings, equipment control. Select setup equipment again. First it goes through the steps to detect the tv. After you finish that, select that you have a receiver. It will ask the brand, pick emotiva, then it will run through 20 questions asking if the receiver properly muted as it tries the 20 profiles. None of them work. If you go through all 20, it will go into learning remote loop that you will not escape. But if you lie on one of them and tell it the mute worked properly you can then you will have the opportunity to select exactly which Emotiva equipment codes you want to use. After you lie about the mute it will say it will turn the av receiver on and off. On this screen you can hit advanced options. It will show every model of Emotiva in the database and you can pick one. I don’t know the best but the one that seemed to share some codes is the last one. XMC-1.
After you select that, no matter what it asks, tell FireTV the receiver responded correctly.
Done: You should at least have volume control and strangely the firetv will sometimes control the power.

Even without that all that, The EARC HDMI cable handles the volume control. (I have no equipment setup due to not winning the IP Profile thingy.) It's a little slow, but it does work.
