To answer your questions in reverse order...
The length you can reliably use with XLR cables is going to depend on a lot of things.
However you should be able to go up to about 100 feet with no problems (with one of our processors, one of out amps, and at least decent cables).
As to putting the processor on top of the amp....
That would depend on LOTS of things.... and is probably not a great idea.
The amp relies on air convection air flow for cooling (hot air rises)... which is not very forceful.
In completely open air the amp will stay relatively cool.
However, even with the amount of space the feet on the processor would provide, sitting something on top of it is going to make it run hot...
And that heat would not be very good for the processor.
As long as there's air flow around the room, and the amp isn't playing super loud, it would probably be OK.
But, in dead still air, or if the amp decides to warm up a bit, it could get quite hot relatively quickly, and that wouldn't be very good for the processor.
It probably wouldn't kill anything... but I would avoid it if possible.
In other words I wouldn't recommend putting the processor on top of the amplifier without some sort of cooling...

Hi Keith
I have a XMC-1 and a XPA 5 gen1, I have to rearrange the system setup and no longer will have a rack to put the equipment on. Can I put the XMC-1 on top of the XPA 5 if both are sitting on top of a quite sturdy cabinet, there is no room inside cabinet andI am concerned about heat issues with both units being that close together.
Also how long can xlr cables be without losing the quality between both of these units if it is impractical enough to sit on each other, as I can then put then either side of the room and run xlr cables through the ceiling space.
Thanks again, sorry forgot to say I am in Adelaide South Australia.
Cheers David
