I have a TA-100 and using the built-in DAC with a Raspberry Pi streamer running latest version of Volumio, I can stream Tidal perfectly via the pi. However, if I try to stream a radio station via Volumio, I am getting a hardware I/o error. If I connect an external DAC between the streamer and the TA-100 and run it through AUX, it works with both radio and Tidal.
Any thoughts?

That is a strange one.... and I suspect you're going to have to look on a Volumio forum.
I'm assuming that you're using USB on the Pi.... USB only supports two-channel audio, and the USB input on the PT-100 only supports up to 96k... My guess would be that the radio app is trying to send a higher sample rate to the USB port... which won't work. (I would expect a different error... but that could be its idea of "unsupported sample rate"... and different apps and plugins will sometimes act different.)
