First hello! I’m new to the forum and a new emotiva user. Recently purchased a used UMC-200 because of the slim design and “this is all I need it’s perfect”. I only have one hdmi source.
Anyway what I’m experiencing is weak output via the preout of the unit. I.E. voices and talking, music and movement are very nice and clear but things like explosions, gunfire, loud yells (like how loud a “pop” should be coming from a blu ray) they all seem to be non existent. I have my sub plugged into the balanced output and it seems to be the only place these loud effects are sent and nowhere else. It’s like there’s nothing ready to blast out an immediate sound on the button.
Also the unit has a very distorted picture via HDMI output. I don’t use this but it’s be nice to have it working properly and again, not sure what this could be either.
I’ve read a lot about this unit and found there are many issues with cheap caps and etc on the power supply. I figured if my unit had that problem I have plenty experience soldering so this wouldn’t be an issue. I’m just not sure where to begin.
Many thanks in advance.

Save your time, money and effort and channel all of that into a new (or much newer than what you bought) AV processor. No support, no replacement parts besides generically available capacitors etc. You would be starting out with 13 year old HDMI if you were even lucky to find qualified help to get it repaired and properly configured. Sorry the news isn’t better….

Not sure why I wasn’t notified of your responses but thank you. Yes I just got an MC-700. This is the only brand I’ve found that actually makes a processor that isn’t filled with unneeded outdated video source processing for $2,000 extra when all I need is one hdmi input and a trigger for my amp. And it isn’t 8” tall. I was thinking of going with the Mc-1 but that would’ve been a waste of 6 channels not being used and extra $400 for nothing. The mc-700 was a good deal and seems perfect.

Great! Where did you find one (if I may ask)

I got it off the us audiomart. When I got the 200 I was eyeing the 700 but it sold for more than I wanted to spend then after several sold for much less, when this one came up I didn’t wait. It came complete and I’m using it with an Adcom GFA-5006.

I watched Star Trek: Generations tonight and the scene where the separated section of the Enterprise crashes knocked my socks off. It’s funny I remember as a young kid being in an electronics store with the film playing in a showroom, it was so loud I had to sit outside the room😂 it was played on laser disc too. Good times. I think it was a circuit city maybe.
