I'm interested in the Rotel CD11 tribute or Emotiva ERC4 for only redbook CD playback. (I'll be replacing my Marantz 5 disc player.) Obviously the ERC4 gets tons of good reviews on this forum. Anyone hear the Rotel CD11 Tribute as a comparison?

I have never owned the Rotel but I did own the ERC-4 and only sold as I have my entire CD library ripped to my Mac Mini HD, I can attest to the ERC-4 being the best sounding CD player I have owned, what other components are you using ?
Cheers, Chad

Crutchfield sells the Rotel; both Crutchfield and Emotiva have generous return policies / in home trial periods... I suggest buying both to better understand which one sounds best to your ears. If you're using an external DAC, you're listening to that DAC's sound signature, so either one used as a "transport" would be perfectly fine.

Main differences, the ERC-4 has balanced outputs and does not have gapless playback.

Creimes, good to read ERC4 was your best...compared to what would help me. (As far as my other components you inquired about, but don't think it matters...EL34 tube integrated amp, FM tuner, TT, and Bluetooth DAC to stream from my phone.)
LuisV, wanting all in one CDP unit w/ no external DAC.
Brutiati, nice but balanced outs is no concern for me.

I have owned, ERC-1, ERC-3, ERC-4 from Emotiva, also Oppo 103 and an older Pioneer Elite(Still have), the suggestion of getting both the ERC-4 and the Rotel and trying them out yourself seems the best idea, you would be out return shipping on whichever you returned but IMO well worth it. Sorry I haven't owned many other big name brands, I'm in Canada and the prices are crazy up here, I actually bought a 1 year old ERC-4 for $395 Canadian which is unheard of haha. Chad

As I've posted herein this forum in a thread regarding the reavon players, IMO the lack of gapless playback disqualifies the unit as being an audiophile-grade component. YMMV.

I still stand by my previous comment and it's simply my humble opinion; only your ears can tell which CD player will sound better.
