Good evening to all, hope you all had a great weekend. I just bough 4 Monitor Audio Apex 10 as my height/atmos speakers. Now I am need of a amplifier to power them. How much power do I need for these to give me good sound quality and which amp will you guys recommend. Will an Emotiva Basx A500 at 90 watts per channel be sufficient to run these speakers or do I need some thing with more power? Hope to hear your advice Fernando

I agree it will be plenty. Atmos channels usually do not demand as much as primary front stage. BAS-X will do great.

They are 8 ohm so easily driven. For Atmos duty, I doubt they’ll ever need more than 5watts of power ever, so yes an Emotiva A500 will easily drive them and then some.

Good morning to all of you who responded to my question. I really appreciate your advice.
Sorry for another question.
So just to cofirm the Emotova Basx A5 is plenty power to run the Monitor Audio Pex 10 with out any issues and will not be sacrificing any sound quelity with those 90 watts per channel. I should not spend money on a more powerful amp?
Patiently awaiting you response

The Bas-X will provide all you need and then some for height speakers. Monitor Audio has this on their site:
"Recommended Amplifier Requirements 25 — 100 W"
The Bas-X falls in comfortably and at the high end of that range.

I'm also one who uses BasX for my Surrounds and ATMOS Tops. Mine is the BasX A-800 which has only 50 Watts @8Ω, and 80 Watts @4Ω, and is more than enough for great ATMOS soundtracks at full volume.

You won’t tell any difference with an amp that cost 5x what the BasX cost for Atmos duty. The Atmos channels draw a very small amount of wattage, any halfway decent amp (the BasX is easily at least this) will sound great.
