Always had a soft spot for NAD since I was a teenager. I haven't owned one of their products for a while now, but I am glad to see they keep churning out good stuff, or so it seems from what Gene is writing: www.audioholics.com/amplifier-reviews/nad-m23-amplifierThis will satisfy the technically inclined. Hopefully it sounds as good as it measures.

I sold NAD for years. Though in the day NAD quality was suspect. I believe it is much better these days. That M23 is really well implemented. Hopefully as a flagship more of what it has trickles down for us folks that may not swing that $3700.00 or so.

What are you trying to say in the above post? What are you comparing? Very confusing. 😳

Hopefully as a flagship more of what it has trickles down for us folks that may not swing that $3700.00 or so. They DID go thru a rough spot some years ago. PS capacitors were Low-Bid junk and a weak spot in the design. Many people had problems. I heard of at least ONE fire associated and many popped caps........ ME? I owned the 1700 Tuner / Preamp from the mid/late 80s. It came before the downspec'd 1600 which was a fraction the cost. But my experience was ALL positive. Decent FM tuner with a couple 'features'. 75ohm AND 300ohm twinlead antenna inputs. Not enough memories. Tone controls? Who needs 'em?, right? But these were 3 turnover frequencies per and a 'narrower' than usual influence. So they WERE useful. Bass at 60, 125, 250 (IIRC) while treble at 3k, 6k, 12k. Subsonic filter. Also known as a 'rumble' filter....best for TT. 20db attenuator (good for answering phone). Tape monitor circuits. MM and MC phono with some selections THERE, too. It had 2 pairs of outputs. One was something like 10v and 'good for long runs'.....while I used the 'other' set at a couple feet to my amps.....In those days a Carver Cube..... Remote would work Other stuff in the Monitor line. And, I thought it was good looking. Very attractive and since it was a 2-fer piece, was space saving as well. The M23 is in a VERY competitive price space. Anyone looking at that kind of $$ to spend looks long and hard. 405? Nobody is trying to SELL you anything. And don't change anything until YOU are good and ready. And IIRC? Sunfire used IGBT output devices made by International Rectifier. A change from Bipolar or Mosfet used in most other SS gear. IGBT is a form of Bipolar, but has an isolated gate........We made 600v versions of these, which are what I think Bob used.....

I had the NAD 1700 preamp/tuner for years and gave it my uncle who also used it up until about a year and a half ago. Loved it.
