Nerding out on pipe organs. I've been fascinated with them since I was a kid. This video focuses on the 64 foot diaphone pipe low C on the Midmer-Losh organ at Boardwalk Hall Convention Center in Atlantic City. It is the world's largest pipe organ. I believe the only other pipe organ in the world that has a 64 foot pipe is at Sydney Town Hall. The pipe's fundamental frequency is 8 Hz (cycles per second). This is only something you can feel, not hear (although you will hear a lot of things rattling). No, your subwoofer will not reproduce 8 Hz (unless you have a VLFS)...but you can see it! Watch till the end.

Ha Ha….well I can’t make 8!! But down to 15 for over 2 decades when desired. Put together a little “Captain Nemo” collection of pipe organ discs back in 2001 that I’ve been threatening to revisit for a while now…

How do you do that...Velodyne HGS 18? I imagine one of these VLF (Very Low Frequency) type speakers would reproduce a 32 foot pipe with a 16 Hz fundamental too. Maybe it can get down to 8 Hz faintly? They use these VLF things at some live concerts, theme parks, high-end theaters, etc. — I'm sure I've experience it without even realizing it. E.g. meyersound.com/product/vlfc/Metallica + Meyers = BOOM! meyersound.com/news/metallica-vlfc/

I always felt the versions that followed were becoming too complicated and too pricey.

64 foot is 16 2/3hz...... My sub will JUST do it but not at a high level. Stuff in the house rattles the walls when so driven.....
The LOCAL outdoor pipe organ the Sprckles, is one of a few outdoor instruments left and might be the ONLY one played regularly. San Diego employs a Municipal Organist thru the Spreckles Organ society. I know they don't have a 64, but I think DO have a 32..... You can tour the interior AFTER each Sunday Concert.....
