Some interesting background on the lounge classic "Garota de Ipanema" (from Adam Neely on YouTube). This also turned me on to the NYC jazz singer Martina DaSilva (also in The Ladybugs)—check her out! She has some very nice recordings and videos and is on music steaming services and Bandcamp.
And her "official" performance of the same piece...

The videos are okay and certainly informative enough if you’re into such music. That being said, I don’t get this thread title because frankly, if you want to talk weird in the context of music you’re a lot better off looking at what’s going on right now. When the original version of this song was playing out on the charts, and that schmaltzy saxophone solo got done, I would be praying that the end would be near.

This post tells me more than I wanted to know about "The Girl From Ipanema".

Thank you oidarnam.
I really enjoy this video. I saw it when it came out in 2020. I've loved this song ever since I first heard it in the 60's. Very beautiful and haunting.
