Well I came home from a few days away with the wife and we sat down to watch a movie and when my XPA-3 powered on it went to a red flashing light. I powered it off and disconnected it from everything and tried again; same result. It was working when we left. Is it possible an internal fuse went or has something else failed. This amp is about 10 years old.
Update: checked the fuses. They are all ok. It doesn’t even power on now. Makes me think the power supply board has an issue.

It could be the power supply board sure. But without measurements and test it is a guess. I would reach out to Emotiva Audio support for next best steps. Not sure where they are if you wanted to have a tech closer to you to look at it as far as schematics and other support documentation goes.

These are getting up there in age and the electrolytic capacitors replacement most likely could be a strong preventative measure if not the causal for some of the maladies. In some amplifiers this can get a bit pricey, but prevention sometimes is cheaper in the long run. I know on the newer BAS-X for instance they are using 105c electrolytics. Not sure the others, but that is a nice detail on Emotiva's part. Most of these amplifiers also use a micro processor and when they go, it is bad news bears, so keeping clean stable power going to them is key. Most worn out part of amplifier over the years, the electrolytic capacitors. High ESR, falling out of spec, mechanical or electrical leakage is not a good thing. True of any electronic components, not just products discussed here.

Call Emotiva. If you need to send it in, the last time I checked, they have a reasonable fixed repair charge.

Well I seem to be getting a run around from Emotiva. It’s really a simple question; can you repair your own product or not? Yes or no? I’m reaching the point of no longer being an Emotiva customer. I just want a repair of your product that I purchased directly from you! Why is that such a difficult question?

Finally got an answer; I will be sending it back for repair.

ANY.....Competent tech should be able to repair this amp IF YOU, or they, could get a schematic..... If EMO won't part with THAT, you are stuck with factory service.
EMO is NOT a 'wealthy company' and in an amplifier? I really......really....doubt there will be ANY proprietary parts. Which in any even could ONLY be some semiconductor.....EMO used a lot of 'Darlington Pair' output devices which are basically a pair of transistors in a single package. I have no idea of availability.....but there SHOULD be bunches of 'em at Digikey or the like...
I'm getting to where I won't buy some things WITHOUT getting a schematic right away.
I have a 10 year old Sub from HSU Research THEY won't part with a schematic claiming 'proprietary' information.....Which is UTTER BS. I'm considering a pair of Tube Amp KITS. Obviously, they come with Very Complete documentation.....

Amp is back and undamaged, however I would suggest that Emotiva stop using UPS. They really suck. The box I sent it in was pristine xpa7 box and very well packed. Emotiva sent it back well packed as well. The box arrived damp and is now trashed and unusable for anything else. I don’t see these problems as often with Fedx. UPS leaves stuff on our porch in the rain with no protection. FedX always places things in a plastic bag when it is raining.

I DO have a longshot idea. I know it is possible since it DID happen to ME.
While you were out? Some kind of power GLITCH took out the amp. Happened to my Carver Cube as we were leaving for a couple days R+R........ I noted teh time / date and when I got home, called on the power company who ended up PAYING FOR THE REPAIR........
Providing the exatct time I think was KEY.
Call your power provider and find OUT IF THERE WAS a PROBLEM / GLITCH 'while you were out'........

Woke up this am to watch Christmas movies with the family and the amp is doing the same thing. They had better pay shipping both ways this time because that was 140$ to ship it to them. Very frustrated at this point.
Dan from Emotiva called me back. They are shipping me a box for a return and all will be covered. Still a PITA for sure but they are standing by their products and thats a big plus to me and keeps me as a customer for sure. I will be looking forward to sending my XMC-2 in for an upgrade.
