RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 Firmware Status (2022/11/16)
We are excited to announce that we have recently had the great good fortune to acquire the services of one of the industry’s top HDMI engineers. He is currently reviewing and rewriting all of our HDMI code and we are confident that this will enable us to both improve the performance of our processors and eliminate most of the remaining HDMI issues we’re still experiencing. Some of the improvements, which will be available in the next few firmware updates, include a completely new way of handling how we switch HDMI inputs, improvements to how we handle ARC and CEC, and the inclusion of support for eARC on all units which have the appropriate HDMI hardware. Release Notes for FW v 3.0: The beta version of FW v3.0 was inadvertently leaked to the public before it was ready for release. Therefore, to avoid any confusion, we will be skipping that version number in official firmware releases. Release Notes for FW v 3.1 - Enhanced stability and reliability for HDMI switching. - Enhanced stability and reliability when switching audio decoding formats. - Improved consistency and reliability of HDMI-CEC support. - Significant improvements in overall system stability. (Reducing or eliminating sluggish behavior and system lockups.) - Numerous minor bug fixes. Coming In A Pending Future Firmware Update
- Enhanced ARC (eARC) support for units that have the appropriate HDMI hardware. GET FW v3.1 here:

I am almost afraid to update. Shut off my TV? This one seems complex.

OK....
I put my lucky magic slippers on, I am following the instructions as if my life depended on it, I'm 20 minutes in and waiting to move to the next step....
I can feel my love for Emotiva starting to come back already....

Great news! Could not help myself and installed it straight away. Took about 20 min. The ‘updating fonts’ step does not go away and keeps doing it at each cold boot. Is that supposed to be like this? It says complete each time as well. annoying, as it adds time to the cold boot (energy saving in europe ). The number and loudness of pops had diminished, but still not gone. I keep a slight pop at bit rate switching. But much improved so far. Sound wise, it is seems better on the surround sound? Might be just the sandman episode i tried it with. So, not fault free, but good step forward! [edit] adding first listening impression on reference stereo. Was not expecting a better sound, but… it looks like i get (much) beter spatial placement on my Linkwitz LX521.4’s and slightly less sharpness in the highs. Is there something in this firmware that would explain that? Or i am just having a good day?

Bravo squared. Pulling my Oppo 205 out of the rack tonight and putting my XMC-2 back in it’s place. 👍👍

Coming In A Pending Future Firmware Update
- Enhanced ARC (eARC) support for units that have the appropriate HDMI hardware. Dear Keith, thank you and all your team for the great job! I'm just updated my RMC-1L for 3.1. How is it possible to check, if the HDMI board support eARC to not? Thanks, Alexander

- Enhanced ARC (eARC) support for units that have the appropriate HDMI hardware. How is it possible to check, if the HDMI board support eARC to not? Thanks, Alexander If you purchased your new Gen3 processor directly from Emotiva within the past few months, its hardware is now capable of supporting eARC. However, support for eARC has not yet been enabled in the firmware. For the rest of us with older Gen3 hardware, we're still traditional HDMI-ARC only...

Finally it's here! But 2.5 has been working so good for me for the last 4 months that I'm worried to update. In stead of jumping the gun on the update, I'll wait to see the feedbacks.
