Last night I got my T3+ and C3+ speakers installed in my home theater (replacing some Boston speakers I've had for 15+ years). The room is 16 feet wide by 26 feet deep, and I'm about 14 feet back from the speakers.
Due to the large size of the screen (12 feet wide), the speakers are only about 1 foot from the side wall (so 14 feet apart). I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the soundstage. It felt very wide - basically covering the entire width of the room (even on music with no center content).
MANY years ago (40+), I had a pair of ESS speakers with AMT tweeters. I always very much loved the sound of those, so I was looking forward to the Airmotiv tweeters, and again I wasn't disappointed.
An RMC-1L and two pairs of E2+ speakers are out for delivery today. Tomorrow is gonna be fun!

The placement sounds about right, in line with the equilateral triangle placement 14 ft apart up front and 14 ft from the MLP. Are you going with a 7.1 setup for now? Maybe Atmos at a later date.?

I'm starting with a 7.1 system yes, but before too long, I'd like to add a BasX A4 amp and yet-to-be-determined height speakers. My current surround speakers are mounted about 6.5 feet up on either side of the MLP, and on the rear wall. I don't know the best position to mount the Atmos speakers, or which Emotiva speakers might serve me best. Any thoughts are appreciated!

If you are wanting to stay with Emotiva and maintain the voicing aspect, then they have in-ceiling and height speakers to consider. I've not heard any of Emotiva's current speakers, so hopefully some actual owners will chime in here.

Thanks. I definitely want to stay with Emotiva, as having tonally matched speakers is so nice for surround content. I look forward to what other current owners have to say.

All of the reviews that I've read or watched have been pretty positive, so I think you've chosen wisely. Oh yeah, welcome to the Lounge!!!

Thanks! I haven't posted much, but I've been a happy Emotiva customer since 2009 when I bought an XPA-2 and XPA-5.

If you are saying the T3+ sounds similar to the ESS AMT series, that is high praise indeed. The AMT 1b's I bought in the 70's were one of the best sounding systems I ever owned. I wish I still had them.

They don't sound as good as the ESS speakers (mine were AMT-1D, I believe), but they still sound very good (at least to my ears). It's been a busy weekend so I haven't had a lot of time to listen to them yet, but initial impressions are positive.

The sound I fell in love with β40 +β ago as you say, has never left meβ¦.only motivated to up the ante since those days with the newest available versions of those very same drivers(Allisons in my case). Staying current with the latest electronics is quite another story and only serves to bring out the finest that vintage high quality loudspeakers have to offer. No better example out there than the dawn of Digital Audio and how it unleashed sound and dynamic range from ALL loudspeakers, the likes of which no one had heard previously up to that point.

I listened to a bunch of music today (songs I know very well) as well as some movie clips and came away with several impressions. First off, the speakers pair quite nicely with the XPA amps. They handled everything I threw at them with no sign of strain. Also, I think these speakers can handle a good deal more than the Bostons did. Those worked great for movies, but didn't sound as good to me for music.
I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the RMC-1L and what things will sound like after doing a Dirac calibration.

Now that I've had these for a couple of weeks I wanted to post an update. I'm continuing to listen to music now (which I pretty much never did before except at work with headphones) because these speakers sound so good with music (as well as movies!).
I've listened to all kinds of genres from various decades and everything sounds fantastic. The tweeters continue to make me smile. They are so clean and open sounding.
It also dawned on me that the RMC-1L is another factor here. My previous processor was a Marantz AV-7005. It served me quite well, but the combination of the RMC-1L, XPA-2, XPA-5, and full Emotiva speaker suite is outstanding. I came down to my theater to listen to "a few songs", and here I am about 75 minutes later still listening to music. π
I'm super happy with the entire setup! About the only thing that could make it even better is upgrading to an RMC-1L+ next year. π
