Hello, I would like to participate. What do I have to do for it. Is it correct that the meeting is at 8pm German time. Also interesting for me is the REW Pro license. I have purchased this because I own the UMIK X4. But this could not yet tried because I am still busy with the conversion. I must warn you my English is very bad. Only through my eyes I can learn.🙈 🙋♂️Paule

Well, maybe we should reconsider Saturday, April 8th so the spread of time zones is more manageable?
Which is "more better" for folks?
Thursday, April 6th at 4pm EDT which equates to: Frankfurt (Germany – Hesse) at 10pm CEST UTC+2 hours Philadelphia (USA – Pennsylvania) at 4pm EDT UTC-4 hours Chicago (USA – Illinois) at 3pm CDT UTC-5 hours Denver (USA – Colorado) at 2pm MDT UTC-6 hours Los Angeles (USA – California) at 1pm PDT UTC-7 hours Corresponding UTC (GMT) at 20:00:00
or
Saturday, April 8th at 1pm EDT which equates to: Location Local Time Time Zone UTC Offset Frankfurt (Germany – Hesse) at 7pm CEST UTC+2 hours Philadelphia (USA – Pennsylvania) at 1pm EDT UTC-4 hours Chicago (USA – Illinois) at 12 noon CDT UTC-5 hours Denver (USA – Colorado) at 11am MDT UTC-6 hours Los Angeles (USA – California) at 10am PDT UTC-7 hours Corresponding UTC (GMT) Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 17:00:00

I'm just one person in the audience. I can join the Saturday event. I can't join the Thursday event, though if you record it I can view the video after the live call.

Hi guys, I will be there on Saturday with the proposed time. I watched your first session. Was very interesting for me to learn with my eyes. Sometimes I even understood something from the conversation.

I have downloaded everything to participate Please do not be angry if I do not understand anything and can speak very little English. I have the level of a fifth grade student. And I am already over 50 years old. And I have not spoken much English in my life. I lack too much vocabulary to understand and speak better. I try my best. I have the translator on the iPad in case I need words to explain something.

How to: "Match" Calibrate One Mic To Another1. Open Preferences and select the mic you want to make a new cal file for, in this case it's a EMM-1 that REW calls a USB PnP Sound Device. Once selected, go to Cal Files and select "Clear Cal" for this mic if there is already a cal file loaded for this mic. This mic must not have a cal file associated with it when you run the sweep. 2. Setup the mic on a stand so that it is close enough to the speaker of choice that can mitigate reflections as much as possible to get a clean recording. Then run a 20-20000Hz sweep, or, if you want to go lower than 20Hz then do so. I'm using 1/24 Smoothing here. 3. Next, choose the mic with a cal file that you want to match the EMM-1 to. I chose a UMIK-2. Run a sweep with the UMIK-2. 4. With two sweeps completed, open Controls (the gear icon upper right) and select Trace Arithmetic and select the sweep done with the EMM-1 as A, and the sweep with the UMIK-2 as B, and select A / B as the arithmetic operation. You may need to make an adjustment here with the Regularization %. I started with no adjustment but was getting some goofy results, so I tried some percentages and 10.0 seems to work ok. I'm going to try some other settings to see if the resulting cal file can be improved. So I suggest to experiment away! to see how things work for you. Trial and error is needed to get the mic-to-speaker relationship and this setting to work together. Some videos I watched used pink noise, but when I tried that the results were more erratic. 5. With the A/B trace selected, go to File/Export/Export Measurement As Text to export the trace as a text file the folder of your choice. 6. Now go back to Preferences/Cal Files and Browse for the cal file you just created and apply it to the EMM-1. 7. This is the result I achieved. The green trace is the EMM-1 with the newly created cal file that's pretty close to the UMIK-2. It's not perfect, but it makes the EMM-1 mic a bit closer of a match so I can use it for comparison and location difference tests. Don't be concerned with the fact that one sweep trace is so much higher than the target, or that the A/B trace is so much lower. It works itself out somehow. I don't know how, it just does. Now what I am amazed about is how close the EMM-1 mic is to the UMIK-2 when the EMM-1 has no cal file applied to it. The overall tilt is most of the difference. As you can see in the Input Device list I've got a bunch of mics listed which are all attached and "Live", but only one can be selected at a time. It just makes it so easy to make measurements in multiple locations without having to move any mic. Like right now I've got three mics setup so I can measure for three seating locations while I'm testing various subwoofer setups (I'm always trying new things, why?, because I want to).

I loved how the discussion flowed yesterday!
I like the idea that the discussion might start with a main topic, and then be allowed to flow naturally, as it did yesterday. It's nice to be able to discuss our system setups in our homes including how the home is constructed, which directly relates to how we've managed to use our spaces as we wish.
Marc and I are thinking that ZOOMING maybe a couple times a month at various times of day would be fun. Start with one main topic and let the discussion flow, whether it's about a particular issue someone wants to tackle, or how we manage to work-around device issues, whatever.

We'd like to make it possible for many areas of the world can make it. Just need to know which time zones have interest.

I'm just a few miles north of marcl same time zone. I Just have to make time to join in. That was great that you's made it work for Paule. It's nice that you guys record them for the people that can't join in or the people that just prefer to watch and learn.
