I have two CMX-2's that are a few years old. They work fine. However, on both of them one of the LED's has burned out. One of the LED's appears to have dimmed over time. Doing some quick on-line research, this seems to have been a problem, not sure if it still is.
Has anyone replaced their LED's?
If so, where to buy replacements from? My next door neighbor is an EE, with excellent diagnosis and soldering skills, so he would help.

Just checked the LEDs and mine appear to fine; purchased them ~3 years ago. Sad that Emotiva doesn't fix them.

In reality they should last a very long time, however there may have been a batch that had issues and I believe the warranty may only be a year. I have had a similar issue with older Triplite Isobar surge protectors. Their lamps don't use LED's and they will eventually flicker or burn out. These are replaceable if you know what you are doing and can be replaced with LED's. Yes, it's unfortunate they don't repair them, however I think if someone is handy and has the correct LED's, it should be an easy replacement.

ANYthing with an LED should go Thousands of hours without problem......
Such lamps do not waste much eneregy as heat which really helps lifetime....
this is a commodity part and will not be difficult to source.
Actual replacement difficulty sort of depends on the mood of the designer or design team which drew the final product....

Just guessing here but I’d put a dollar on this, Emotiva just rebranded or had them built to spec and replacing an LED would cost more in time then deemed profitable. Maybe Emotiva could offer a single week a year to have those with bad LEDs send their units in and assign one person to fix them. A reasonable fee plus return shipping charged to the owner and everyone wins. Just a suggestion

Novi? LEDs are a commodity part....built by the thousands, depending on 'die size' (size of chip they are made on) and size of the wafer.....from 4" diameter (obsolete) all the way to a 10" or even 12" slice. Having a 'custom build' would not be cost effective. Last I heard, Nelson Pass had a run of a SPECIAL transistor made....VFET or some such.......And while it cost a bundle? Look at cost of Pass equipment. I think some even went to the DIY market for the overachiever who scratch build amplifiers.... www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_diy_sony_vfet.pdf

They should be blue 3mm LEDs with leads. Need to verify the size by measuring. Can be purchased from electronic supply stores such as Mouser. If you know how to solder, easy to replace. I have not had the time to place an order yet due to the Holidays.
