Generally right, keith. No problemo.
But the problem with some speakers (like those pesky 'Stats) is not impedance but reactance.
How much of a capacitor or inductor does a speaker appear to be to any partnering amp?
Some amps simply do NOT like working into a lower impedance capacitor OR inductor.
This gets into a related issue.....Power Factor and just how well any given amp deals with it.
The 50:50 power point is about 350hz to 400hz. If 'splitting' at that point, amps of equal power
should redline about the same time.

Thanks for your replies. I just saw the great price of the B1+ and wondered if I could pair them with the maggies, if I also bought a BAS-X5. I don't know if the BAS-X5 has room correction. The BIG issue will not be electrical, but audible. Will the Maggies blend with the new speakers? Or will you be able to 'pan' your head and identify where one speaker leaves off and the other begins......?? To ME? 'Room Correction' is moving speakers and furniture around for best sound. You may be speaking to 'system correction' But I'm a stickler.... Isn't any system correction resident IN the preamp? And altered using a feedback loop from a microphone?

Sorry I'm late to the party, and everyone's comments are quite valid. But I'll comment because I have done exactly what you're talking about so I'll just share my experience. I have 3,7 fronts, CCR center, LRS surrounds, MMGW front tops. My rear tops are Polk OWM5 (8ohms, cone woofers and dome tweeter), and my rear surrounds are ... B1+ !!! I considered doing four MMGW as tops, but decided that the Maggie sound was not going to be that significant when playing into the top or back of my head. Likewise for the rears. I had another pair of old Polks for rears and I replaced them with the B1+. So I'm very happy with this arrangement overall ... and I can say from some changes that I made along the way that having 5 Maggies in the main bed positions integrates really well with surround material especially music. Last year I had MC1 surrounds and they had to be repaired so I used a pair of Smaller Advents for surrounds for a few weeks. While the bass was much better, they called attention to themselves and the soundstage from front to side was not seamless. I replaced them with LRS, and THEY sound really great as surrounds. I have them hanging on plant hooks. As for the B1+ ... they do a great job in the rear. I sit toward the rear of the room at my desk all day so I hear surround upmix from the B1+ and it really is a good speaker. Another factor is efficiency. The Polk tops and the B1+ are much more efficient than the Maggies. This only comes into play when doing Dirac calibrations. I have to adjust the level on the amps of those speakers in order to get Dirac calibration levels all in an acceptable range. So I managed to do it and everything plays fine. My bottom line advice is that for movie surround and Atmos the B1+ will probably do fine. If you hear a difference in tonality and soundstage integration it will be more with music. I think it will be less of an issue with your 1.7 ... there will be more of a difference if your Maggies were ribbon tweeter models. Here's the current layout of my system in case my description was not clear.
