Howdy. I have a Harmon Kardon AVR=25 that I got from my dad after he passed. When I turn it on the display comes on and there is a click then the display goes off. It is back and forth, back and forth like this until it finally powers on. This goes on for several and sometimes many minutes before powering on. The interval between the clicks will incrementally increase until, eventually, it powers up. I've had it hooked up for about a year and this issue did not begin until about 6 months ago. Is this a capacitor issue? Thank you kindly for your consideration. Adios!

No one has any idea what the issue is when I turn this unit on? When it is colder the interval between the clicking is shorter and gradually becomes longer until it turns on. Thank you kindly for your consideration.

Thank you kindly for your consideration. My guess is that it's capacitors, most likely in the power supply. If you have a Variac handy, you might try something I've done with some success. It's called "re-forming", and involves starting with pretty low voltage, like 40V, for 20-30 minutes, then increase to 60V, then 80V, etc. I read an old article about this a few years back that involved very old radios that could be brought back to life - although not as well as if they were recapped - but they would work.
