Hi all I have a ERC-1 and a ERC-3 they both stopped reading the Cd's they both had low hours on them there like new yet. Emo doesn't service either anymore I found a local guy that will check them out but wants service manuals. Brent from emo claims they have no info on them anymore, really how hard is it to keep pdf files on the gear you make for situations like this it's not like they're 30 years old.
Question is if anybody ever obtained these manuals or know where I can get a copy for the guy so I can have them serviced.

The laser power might be a bit low. Somewhere on a board either on or connected to the transport should be a pot that adjusts the power of the laser.
My Denon DCD-1520 had trouble initiating play until I adjusted this tiny board mounted pot which looks like a trim pot. Just needed a tiny adjustment.

I believe these were either Toshiba or Hitachi Transport. So long ago. Finding these is almost impossible. Even the main vendor may not have these anymore unfortunately.

If the players have low hours probably the issue is not mechanical. Bad capacitors maybe.

That’s the problem with CD players, or disc players in general. Even though they may be well made, lack of parts sends them to recycling.

Personally I'd order the Sanyo loader that Chad linked to above, at $35 I'd try swapping it out in his ERC-1.
