Shopping around for a pair of monitors and I narrow my search to the Adam Audio Powered Studio Monitors with an
8" woofer @ 598.00 pair , second option would be the Airmotive B2+ 499.00 pair...just because of all the reviews on the great B1+. I may also consider the T0+ because of deal going on 399.00 pair.
Any comments?
I know this is an Emotiva crowd...but looking for suggestions!

Well I have 6 Emotiva Stealth 8's, but they are no longer being repaired by Emotiva. I was planning to replace then with Adam Audio Powered Studio Monitors (8" woofer) as they died, but I found I could convert the Stealth 8's into passive speakers being driven with Emotiva PA-1 amps (I have 8 of those spare :-). See the other thread in the speaker board for details. I personally haven't heard the Adam Audio monitors, as the passive Stealth 8's sound pretty wonderful, but I have a German friend who swears by them (the Emotiva's were too expensive for him to import into Germany).

I created a 5.1 near field surround system using 5 - JBL 305P MKII active speakers driven by a Topping DM7 multichannel DAC. I can tell you that I am astonished by the results from such an inexpensive speaker. JBL sells an 8" version also. My source into the DM7 for surround sound is computer USB out using Foobar 2000.

I have no experience with either speaker, however IMHO it is not really an apple to apple comparison.
The B2+ and the other Emotiva speakers you mention are passive speakers, the Adam is active and woofer and tweeter are driven by Class-D amps.
Speakers preference is as subjective as it gets in the already very subjective field of audio. Reviews or other people experience can help, but up to a point.
If you can, find a way to listen to the speakers you are considering or (even better) try them at home if you can return them in case you are not satisfied.

I had to leave a pair of Aimotiv 5's behind in the US that I really loved, they were such great desktop speakers. these were the 1st gen 5" with the flat front. hoping to find something similar to replace them, 4" or 5" for me due to small space. Curious about ribbon tweeter, the Airmotiv 5's were just right for my ear. |

years ago I heard AUDIOENGINE at a show. I think the A5 was the model number? But they are still making what appear to be a nice lineup..... audioengine.com/sale/hd-series/And either passive or active.... Airmotiv speakers use an AMT....Air Motion Transformer. An alternative to both Cone/dome and ribbon. And actually a well regarded type. I'll have to take a listen to AE again, years ago they seemed to be a bit too laid back for me, I do like my detail.

The amt would brakeup at high volumes. So I have been waiting for the Emotiva T2+ to return, I have been following up. But it seems they have been discontinued. I wish they would just not show them in their website if they have no orders arriving soon! |

Sorry for late replay...I bought the Adams 8" however at very high levels my ears woul hurt. Almost the same as with the Magnepan LRS that I bought last year. I am thinking maybe my ears dont like Ribbons....
