The Bluesound Vault 2i has both digital and analog audio outputs.
Therefore, assuming that your CD recorder has both types of inputs, you should be able to connect them using either of those options.
Your CD recorder may also offer Toslink as an option.
If you use the analog connection then you will be going through BOTH the DACs on the Bluesound and the A/D converters on your CD recorder.
That's two extra conversions, both of unknown quality, and so would generally NOT be considered to be the best option.
Assuming that your CD recorder has a Coax digital input which will accept the 16/44k output from the Bluesound...
Then this will give you a direct digital connection and would be the preferred option...
(And, if you have it, a Toslink digital connection should be almost as good... depending on who you ask.)
IN THEORY this should be capable of giving you "a CD quality recording".
(That theory assumes that the streaming service is actually providing you with a lossless unedited and unaltered CD quality audio signal... which is a LOT of assumptions.)
Also note that, if you play hi-res content, and the Bluesound outputs it as a high-res audio signal, your CD player may or may not be able to handle that digitally.
(Many older CD recorders are limited to
ONLY accepting a standard 16/44k "CD sample rate digital input".)
Note also that many older CD recorders have additional "interesting" restrictions...
For example many separate CD recorders sold as "home machines" will only record audio onto "audio rated CD-R blanks"... (there is an extra tax involved).
And some older models will also only record onto certain types of CD-R blanks for other technical reasons...
(I had an older Marantz "professional" CD recorder that would record on ordinary non-audio blanks... but only ones that used the old-style 1x/2x green dye.)
Simple question. Can i run RCA interconnects from my Bluesound Vault 2i to a CD recorder and record from the streamer and burn those songs onto a CD? Thank you kindly for your consideration.
