Sitting here with the 2008 model year, first generation XPA-2, Denafrips Venus II 12th DAC, their Hades preamp, Mercury V2 streamer, KLH Model 5's and a pair of SVS SB-3000 subs... And a lot of other stuff going on behind the scene... The Venus and XPA-2 bring it all together. Nothing more to say.

That being said, I think it’s a severe case of overkill to put that much coin down on independent, digital analog conversion…… whatever floats your boat as they say.

Boy, I sound like an arrogant prick in the above, my apologies... I just reread what I typed. I don't think it is overkill, it is a hobby, and I have learned quite a bit playing and experimenting with this gear. I never realized how much noise is in electricity and how it affects the sound of the system. Cleaning that up alone had a huge impact on the sound. Now, even changing out something as simple as a cable can make a difference. And before you go screaming snake oil, I used to be a big fan of Amir and "science". It has been, and continues to be a fun journey.
