Anything that’s no longer under warranty and on the will not service list should be avoided imho.
I sold my XPR-2 and XPR-5 before they crapped out on me.

My buddies and I owned 8 XPR amps in total because they were the best Emotiva has made - agreed. 1/2 the units needed repair and 2 of them broke twice.
But of course, if you want to take a chance…there are other folks who still use their XPR amps.
None of us have Emotiva amps anymore except for my one buddy who has the Basx 7 channel amp for surround duty.

Should I look into something else It all depends on the risk you want to take. Is the XPR5 you are looking at priced well? Is it working fine? Would you be able to get the schematics from Emotiva so that a tech could repare? Personally, if I could get the schematics, the price was right, and there are no proprietary parts that are Unobtainium, I would take that chance. I have not owned the XPR series, but have purchased several Emotiva amps including an XPA-5 Gen 1 and my current XPA-5 Gen 3. I had an issue pop up after eight years of ownership on the XPA-5 Gen 1. One of the channels would go into Protect Mode (red LED) randomly. Emotiva was willing to repair it at a reasonable cost, but I decided to trade t in on a new XPA-5 Gen 3. No regets. I also have three BasX Flex amps. Two I bought used and one new. No issues. They are working great. Edit: Or, take hair nick's advice and look at a new, with warranty Emotiva amp.

It’s in good condition no issues from original owner $1200. Will be using it with Klipsch rf7iii and rc64iii and possibly my surrounds Klipsch 502s.

Call Emotiva and ask if they will provide you with the schematics. You would save money over a current XPA-5, but again you would have that 5 year warranty. I would see if the seller would go down in price...mention the lack of warranty...the fact that Emotiva will not repair these anymore. He may be motivated.

Thoughts on buying a xpr these days? Outlaw makes an excellent amplifier, the 7000X, I have owned one for about 4 years now and I love it, I have owned Emotiva amps as well and for the most part I had no issues, those Klipsch speakers would not need the power of that XPR-5, I myself would find it hard to pay these(IMO) high asking prices for out of warranty stuff that weighs way too much to ship anywhere for service. My 7000X runs my Chane 700 series setup with ease as it would your setup as well, I know we are on the Emotiva forum here and I do like their products but they have gone up a lot in the past 5 years changing them from what I found them to be such an amazing cost/performance ratio, they are still great that way but still much different as well. I purchased my 7000X a tad over 4 years ago for only $50 less than you can buy it now so I'm not sure how they do it as it is a great sounding and solid built amplifier. outlawaudio.com/shop/power_amplifiers/25-model-7000x.html
