Dusted off my Xmc-1 for 2-channel use and was really excited to use Dirac again…just can’t find the download for Mac or windows anywhere. Are either still downloadable? I checked my license, and it’s still good.

Thanks geebo ! It sounds like I am SOL. No not at all…..not like dusting Off an antique you’ve got a stellar piece of hardware on your hands. Just use it without “Dirac” and trust your ears and you’ll be just fine lol.

Thanks geebo ! It sounds like I am SOL. You do have a very good 11 band per channel parametric equalizer in the XMC-1. You can use it with REW to help balance out the frequency response of the room.

I should have clarified, SOL in terms of using Dirac. Next step is try smooth out the frequency response with the parametric EQ. There is a hole in the mid-bass my ears and measurements agree exists.
However, I also have a Minidsp 2x4 HD I was thinking of using to add Dirac 3.0 into the mix via the optical out on the XMC-1. I’d have to shell out $200 for a new Dirac license, but might be worth it to breath new room correction life into the XMC-1.
Dumb idea?

That should work especially if you're mainly concerned with two channel listening with Dirac.

CURRENT STATUS OF Dirac Live for Emotiva (1.0) for XMC-1.(This is current, as far as we know, as of August 11, 2023.)The XMC-1 uses a customized version of Dirac Live 1.xx . The XMC-1 will NOT work with the current version of Dirac Live (3.xx) . The XMC-1 was originally sold with a lite version of Dirac Live 1.0 - called Dirac Live LE for Emotiva. At that time an upgrade to the full version - Dirac Live FULL for Emotiva - was also sold. The Certified Refurbished version of the XMC-1 did NOT include Dirac Live. However the FULL version was available for purchase to go with it for $100. ALL VERSIONS OF THE DIRAC LIVE SOFTWARE THAT WORK WITH THE XMC-1 HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED. Because of this DIRAC LIVE 1.0 ACTIVATION KEYS CAN NO LONGER BE USED TO ACTIVATE NEW ACCOUNTS. HOWEVER THE SOFTWARE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK FOR THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE.Users who have already activated their Dirac Live software, and created a user name and password for it, will still be able to continue to use their software using their user name and password for the immediate future. This also means that users who have a copy of the software will be able to install the software and use it with their user name and password. We expect the software, and their user name and password, to continue to work until early 2024. As of February 2023 users are still able to DOWNLOAD the latest version of the Dirac Live for Emotiva software, for both Windows and Apple computers, and both the LE and FULL versions, from the original download link. To do so, the user must go to this link: emotiva.com/pages/xmc-1-dirac-live-download
click on Existing User, and enter their Activation Key, user name, and password. YOU MAY ALSO STILL USE THE LINK ON THIS PAGE TO RESET YOUR SOFTWARE LICENSE "INSTALL COUNTER". NOTE: Remember that the Activation Keys for the LE and FULL versions are different. Users who bought the XMC-1 originally, with the LE version of the software, and later purchased the FULL version, have two separate Activation Keys. Each key will only take you to the download links for the version it goes with. (If you receive a message about a bad e-mail address when you try to do the download just ignore it.) If these links stop working you can also get the software directly from our DropBox at these links: Dirac Live LE 1.xx for Emotiva: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/ilielnpypkejvu6h2cyfv/h?dl=0&rlkey=g6qw50zuw2iz5uh6kaarvcuzc Dirac Live FULL 1.xx for Emotiva: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/509sitn3loblkwa028uns/h?dl=0&rlkey=0c57eeba5io0wl0igonx8l5cnCOMPATIBILITY: The XMC-1 WILL NOT work with the current version of the Dirac Live software available from the Dirac website (Dirac Live 3.0). OUR NEWER XMC-2, RMC-1, AND RMC-1L USE THE NEWER VERSION 3.xx OF THE DIRAC LIVE SOFTWARE.Here's the current compatibility information for the XMC-1 version of the Dirac Live software. The Windows version WILL work with Windows 10. The Windows version will NOT work with Windows 11. The Windows version MAY work with Windows 8/8.1 The Windows version will likely not work with Windows 7. The Apple version will work on Apple computers running Yosemite but NOT on newer versions of Mac/OS.

Quick Update: after A LOT of network/XMC troubleshooting…IT WORKS!! It would not have been possible keithemo without the software download link for Mac. Very much appreciate your help! Music in my stereo setup has never sounded better :-)

I bought this gear because of the ability to calibrate with DIrac. I can accept that the program will never be updated, as disappointing as that is, but I don't see how Emotiva or Dirac could cancel access to a program users have licensed, unless it's explicitly stated that the program has an expiration date somewhere.

1. You can download the most recent versions of Dirac Live FOR THE XMC-1 FROM THIS LINK: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/yvwsl6sa02x2tmjqb7de6/h?rlkey=mskvn5xuslk55c1aocj0v9yel&dl=02. I don't exactly disagree with your feelings about this... however, unfortunately, this is not unusual with a lot of modern software. Sometimes this happens because the software relies on a server to function at all... like most current multi-player games. And, at other times, it's just a matter of updates... for example, when a program you own will no longer work on your new phone or computer, and the company doesn't update it. (I have a couple of great old programs that simply won't run on a modern computer... and the companies who made them are long gone.) It is unfortunately quite common for modern software to insist on "validating its license with a license server" every time you run it... And, even worse, a lot of modern software works more like a lease and there is no pretense that you own it. (For example, we pay for Adobe Photoshop BY THE MONTH, and it will stop working if we stop paying the bill...) Now... I'm going to give you the exact situation... We license the Dirac Live software from Dirac... The version of Dirac Live that works with the XMC-1 was a specially customized version... which they are no longer updating or supporting. They have also informed us that, some time soon, the server that validates the existing licenses for that version of the software will no longer be supported. (And, at that point, the software will cease to work - although any Dirac Live filters you have on your processor will continue to work indefinitely.) It was never specifically stated that the software "had an expiration date"... But it was also never stated that the software would continue to work until a specific date or for a specific period of time... (I personally agree it sucks... but a LOT of modern software now works this way... ) (I also find it unfair that, if I drop my current cable service, all of the on-demand movies that I "purchased" will disappear... ) I agree that it's a bummer... but I'm just telling you the situation as I know it... I guess it could even change... and, as of now, we don't actually have a threatened "death date"... It's simply that we no longer have a commitment for how much longer the software will remain working. The newer processors that use Dirac Live use a STANDARD version... Which means that it is far more likely to remain "under support" as long as Dirac continues to exist... Mitch Yes you can using a USB drive, there is an XMC-1 save option in REW. The best way to get the proper format is to first Export the current presets to a USB drive then change the exported preset files with the new files from REW. This will help in getting the file names and path correct on the USB drive. See page 97 in the XMC-1 manual.
