Have any of you that own the ERC-4 had any problems with dropouts between tracks? The display on the XDA-3 blinks like it is waiting for a signal between tracks.

If using Coax between the ERC-4 and outboard dacs I ran into this constantly. I was told it had something to do with sensitivities at the coax output of the ERC-4. However once I switched to AES problem completely went away and at least to my ears it sound better this way. I suspect this is an issue with the ERC-4 regardless of any outboard DAC being used.

Thank you. I am using the optical output. The XDA-3 doesn't have AES input.

Hmm, I wouldn’t think the optical would have electronic issues but then I never used that type of connection when I owned the ERC-4. Since AES is not an option if you have a coax cable laying around it would be interesting to see if you get the same results. FWIW I prefer coax vs optical but others might have a different opinion. Good luck, but next thing to do is contact customer support if you don’t have a coax cable.

Does this happen because of the lack of gapless placeback?
