I'm really frustrated. Yesterday I had my theater filled with guys to watch college football. I powered all my equipment up and had no sound at all. None of the buttons on the front of my UMC-200 worked and the only way to control it was with the remote. To the right of the LED screen was a -oo message and there was also a -oo frozen on the projector image. I Unplugged it and tried rebooting it several times to no avail. This afternoon I downloaded and flashed new firmware but there are no changes other that now when I boot it up it does give me a slightly newer firmware verion. (V1.52.02 instead of V1.52.01) I did get a few errors while flashing it and it took me several tries to even get it to show the newer version.
I'll give Emotiva tech support a call on Tuesday but if the support is similar to when my last Emotiva processor bricked I won't get a resolution.
I'm not here to trash Emotiva I just wanted to ask if this is similar to other users experiences? Is the life span of their processors so limited so that we can expect to upgrade every 5 years or so, and if so why? I still have an old Acurus ACT3 and even an ancient Lexicon CP-1 that work after all these years. How come both Emotivas have bricked when they get such little use?
If anyone has a suggestion for getting me up and running again I would truly appreciate it!

“I'm not here to trash Emotiva I just wanted to ask if this is similar to other users experiences? Is the life span of their processors so limited so that we can expect to upgrade every 5 years or so” oh, I hope not!
I’m almost a full nine years now with my Emotiva processor, and the thing is a solid as a rock……(not a brick lol) hope somebody here can help you get it back

Were you located? I’ve got an UMC-1 & UMC-200 just sitting idle. Let them go cheap so you can up and running

I’ll get you an estimate for the umc-200 for shipping if you’re interested. If so, we can work something out via PM.

Different beasts the CP1 and ACT3. From being a dealer for both. Those are all legacy video switching processors. Dolby Digital and DTS and it keeps it nice and simple. No HDMI or other advanced codecs, so the overhead is much less than the computer night mare we have now called HDMI and the like. Won't go into that.
It may not even be software related at all. Computers have zero sense of humor when comes to the voltages and such they want. Could be something in the power supply that is not sending the proper voltage consistently that is making UMC-200 running unstable.
I hope Emotiva can get you sorted well. I like happy endings. Call me old fashioned.
