I saw that. Looks like many are switching to Zidoo and Dune players.

Always curious about those types of players; however, I've never tried one... Plex and an Nvidia Shield have satisfied my needs. Also curious about Kaleidoscape; however, it's closed and uber expensive eco-system keeps me far far away.

I have never heard of Zappiti before. I have heard of Zidoo and Dune HD. Do any of them have good compatibility with DV and atmos sound profiles? I current use a NVidia tv shields with plex connected to my library of media on a file server.. I have used kodi as well but, I find plex a more user friendly interface for others in the household to use and easier to allow friends to browse when picking out a film or other content. One of the main issues with is it nots not handles most mp4 profiles with DV and atmos or dts master sound. I get around that by converting it to a mkv. I does handle most DV content in MKV except profile 8 I believe.

It plays Iso's, BDMV and MKV as well as any audio file type I throw at it including dsf files although the current FW has a bug when playing multi channel dsf in that they only play in stereo right now. It also has USB output to feed a USB DAC if you desire as I do with my XDA-3.

Weird it seems like they are going out of business because of law suit for copyright infringement. There system seems to also index ripped media with metadata, but if that was the case, why Zappitti and not Plex. You think Plex has more recognition out there and would have been the more of a stand out as a target. Is there something that Zappitti did that made them easier to target?

Good question and I somehow think we haven't heard the whole story yet. We've only heard from Zappitti so far.

I saw that. Looks like many are switching to Zidoo and Dune players. Zidoo Z9X - Great player and supports all of my MKV and ISO rips, including 3D. Biggest knock I've had is voice sync when you FF or RW sometimes. It goes out of sync by about .5 seconds but can be easily adjusted using the Zidoo OSD. Despite that, it's worth every penny. Dune HD - Love the player, but I've had a bear of a time with the remote killing the batteries in less than a month even when not using it. Not as customizable as the Zidoo (thanks McBluna), but the interface is apparently very close to the Zappitti. I use the Zidoo 98% of the time because of customizations I've made, but the Dune HD is a solid unit that is reliable sans my remote experience.

Looks like Zappitti is resurfacing in the form of a new company. It sounds like the app will be available for Dune and Zidoo. www.rvolution.com/
