Does anyone Know what the differences between the CMX-2/CMX-6 and CMX-2+/CMX6+. Are there other differences besides the addition of surge protection?

Yes, I understand that but what is the difference between the CMX2 and the CMX-2+? They Just recently came out with new models which have a "+" after them. The CMX6+ and CMX 2+. Is the only difference be tween the new "+" models and the older ones the addition of surge protection?

Good question and I don't know if there are any differences other than the new look. Maybe someone from Emotiva will chime in.

I dunno 🤷‍♀️ Either but I thank you for bringing this up! I’ve got one in the closet unused for years just sitting up there with no place to go.(have no memory of which model it is) In the meantime, I helped my daughter move and she’s got a real nasty power strip with a burned outlet on it that I’m not happy about her having in the apartment…… Next trip there problem solved!

I have no idea, but I am sure the marketing department knows that the consumer will always purchase the model with a "+" because it has to be better than the model without the "+", haha! I have a couple of CMX-6s and never gave the "+" a thought. It could as simple as a cosmetics upgrade, Emotiva will have to enlighten us on this one.

…… With or without the “+” the CMX Is the solution for “a problem”. If there is no “problem” then there is no solution.
That’s why mine (a gift from someone well intentioned) has been sitting on the shelf in my closet for the past seven years.

True enough, it is a solution for a problem and if you don't have on you may not need it, but if the only addition is surge suppression on the + then may not need to spend extra money if they don't need the surge suppression. I guess my original question does relate to that. What's different that gives extra value to the difference in cost. If its surge suppression some may not need it. If it does not offer something extra that a the person buying it will need, best to save the money and not get the + Right?

They may all be + soon. The non + may be retired.
