Hello, just had an experience of the third kind with my RMC-1! Was just on my streaming service as suddenly the music was interrupted by a ringing (like hitting once on a reception bell). Have me at the first time thought whether it probably belong to the music. After a minute again. Now I thought Alexa had set a timer without being asked. That was not the case. Then wild search for the cause in all settings on the TV Cube, Google, nothing brought me further. Once a minute a ringing over all speakers. Cube switched off, ringing continues. The only way to calm down was to unplug the TV Cube. This was followed by a small odyssey at Amazon Service. They said factory reset could help, at first I didn't want to, but then I did it. Without success, ringing continued. Snout full, first switched to my Heos ... and what can I say. Ringing continued!!! So it could only be the Emotiva. Completely switched the power off and on again, and the ringing was gone. So, who of you has heard this ringing too? As I know my luck, certainly no one, right?

The Dolby Ding!
Which firmware version is on your RMC-1?

The Dolby Ding? I have the 3.2 running. Got a bucket full of bugs here. There are about 20, all reproducible. For me, the "Dolby Ding" popped up when I was listening to Billie Eilish Happier than Ever in Atmos via Disney Plus on my Amazon TV Cube, (which is connected to the Emo via HDMI).

The Dolby Ding? I have the 3.2 running That's what I call it. I had it happen quite a while ago, but don't recall exactly when. The ding only happened with a certain Dolby audio mode. It was said to be a "tone" that's for a particular purpose, but again, I don't recall the specifics. It's not supposed to happen under normal usage, but under a test mode. Unplug the RMC-1 for 3-5 minutes. From what I can recall I did a cold reboot of my XMC-2, no power for a few minutes, and this got rid of the ding.

The Emotiva guys must know if somewhere deep in their device a hint tone is implemented for whatever! If that is not the case, the sound can only come over the network (Dirac Raspberry?)

I have a vague memory of this issue, and not just related to Emotiva. I think it had to do with some licensing security feature on some processor. Very odd to be just on your RMC-1 though. Is your processor new?

The device is from 2021. I also posted the problem here in a German Hifi Forum, people think I'm crazy! I'm glad that the problem is also known to someone else. That saves my day. Laugh The licensing thing could be a plausible explanation. Is there any official statement?

Are we talking about licenses that hardware manufacturers have to pay to Dolby or that the user license for Dirac is causing problems?

With the strange error you can live well, because it appears very rarely and I know that a cold start helps. But it is a crazy thing.
