There is, indeed, a fascinating collection of vintage playback devices out there that explore the evolution of music. If I were ever to go back…… It would only be to go WAY BACK…(as in the very beginning) to have an antique playback device on display in my home for fun and amusement. Here are some wonderful examples… I do get a kick out of the picture below that shows the young couple, listening to the Victrola and being enamored with it. I mean, the years are just completely off when that thing was built those two weren’t even born yet. lol when I first discovered my aunts , Victrola, nobody cared when I played with it! I was a good deal younger than they were just a little kid! the portable in the suitcase was one of the first of that kind around 1927. Attachments:IMG_4335.webp (123.5 KB)

Somehow, the wax cylinders didn’t make it into the first set of photos, but these things were very cool a friend of mine who delved into antiquities also had the player and a set of these cylinders. I think the ones he had were operatic recordings,
