Dear Experienced Emotiva Owners and Fans
I am looking to do an upgrade of my current home theater with Emotiva.
Current POLK set up:
• XT 70 tower front left and right speakers • XT 30 center speaker • XT 60 tower surround speakers (2) • XT 90 Atmos height speakers (2) • 2 Pioneer Andrew Jones SW-8MK2 Subwoofers
Driving the above with Onkyo 80 watts per channel in 8 Ohms. I will upgrade this too. All in all, this has been an adequate budget home theater set up. For record, this upgrade is home theater only since I have a separate higher end 2 channel set up (Threshold, Thiel, Magnepan, etc,).
My room is 12 wide x 25 long with 8 foot ceilings.
I am researching two options:
A. B.
Questions:
What are your thoughts? Are the five T2+ speakers in option A overkill? Would option B be preferred?
Would you recommend the XS15 subwoofer (I know that there are many other options)? Thoughts about Emotiva BasX MR1L 9.2 Channel Dolby?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.
John

Thanks. Implicit in my question/s is I want to upgrade and not just replace which draws me to the T3+s. Running two subwoofers makes sense.

I vote C. But add the Emotiva heights if you can swing it.

I am inclined to add the Emotiva height speakers for timbre reasons, assuming that argument applies. Thanks for your suggestion.

I would go with C also, but I would be inclined to buy either SVS or Rythmik subwoofers. Nothing wrong with the Emotiva subs, just my preference.
Let us know what the decision is!

Thanks. I am a fan of the SVS subwoofer line. For the record, I have Thiel 3.6s for the 2 channel set up.

Thanks. I am a fan of the SVS subwoofer line. For the record, I have Thiel 3.6s for the 2 channel set up. Love Thiel and wish they were still around. I have the 1.6's and SCS4 for center. I also have an SCS3 that I'm not currently using. Boxed up. I also have in wall 1.2's...a pair that I will install next year in the bedroom of a new home build for a two channel system. Will be connected to a 70's Mcintosh system...MR77 tuner...MC2505 amp...C26 preamp. The 3.6's are fantastic.

One more question: YAMAHA RX-A6A 9.2-Ch x 150 Watts A/V Receiver v Emotiva BasX MR1L 9.2 Channel Dolby. Anyone experienced with both AVRs? Both are tanks for sure. I hear set up is challenging with the Yamaha.
