I went from Phillips Pronto to Logitech Harmony. Love the Harmony remotes. Mine is still working well. Think I have an 880. Will cry when it dies. My family can barely make it work and it is dead simple.

Three-Part Reply:
1. Ask for YIO is over 400$ You can get TWO of nearly anything else for that ask. Even a pair of X1 (sofa baton) with enough $$ left over for a good dinner for two.....
2. If you get a pair of NIB (new in box) Logitech, you are set for over a decade.
3. I might add that it is possible to FIX stuck or less than functional buttons. I did so on my Ceiling Fan remote and
I also took apart and fixed one of my Direct TV remotes, which is now back to 100%.......I posted an image some time ago
if you are curious as to what a typical remote may look like when 'broken down' for repair.

I've been waiting on the YIO remote, hoping it will be what many think will take the place of the aging Harmony remotes. www.unfoldedcircle.com/My Harmony Ultimate from 2013 is still working great. but this remote is also on my radar... does anyone know if it's out of Kickstarter yet? www.unfoldedcircle.com/I’m in the same boat as ttocs and I’ve not yet received an e-mail invitation to buy as of yet.

At what price? If the 400$+ I've seen? I'd rather 'risk' one of the Sofabaton for <1/2 the cash. The new X1S version has a couple useful improvements. Is fully backlit AND wakes up when you pick it up.....The firmware has been Substantially upgraded, addressing connection issues and such....

I haven't held nor used either of these remotes, so I'm going by the available pictures / video reviews, the Remote 2 has a rechargeable battery, aluminum body, OLED screen, a web based UI for configuration and it appears to be the easier of the two to configure / program as there are built in integrations... Home Assistant / Smart Home control being a plus, at least for me. I can understand why it's more expensive, but like the Sofabaton, it's not perfect. Tough decision for sure... I'm not a fan of that thumb wheel thing on the Sofabaton and I like the layout, OLED screen, etc. of the Remote 2; therefore for the price difference it better perform.

The YIO / Unfolded Circle is a lot of $$$ but has what appears to be superb build quality. Metal case. OLED display.
And only needs a connection to program than No more.......IF I Understand the blurb correctly......
I'm still trying to get straight on the pricing. Website lists in Euros which is easily converted and comes up with a number I simply can't accomodate.....
For MY limited use with no 'home automation' or more than 5 or 6 pieces of equipment and maybe 2 or 3 'macros' possible?
Even the 70$ Sofabaton would be worth experimenting with.....
Logitech is now on my X$%^@@ list and I consider them short sighted. A premium remote at the 300$ level with MAYBE a lifetime support ticket for another 100$? Remote comes with 30 days support for initial setup and troubleshooting....... Something like that. The subscription / pay model is doing well. Just ask Microsoft and Adobe.....

Downloads section of Unfolded Circle Remote website has 2 downloads......
1. Safety.
2. Quick Start Guide.
If issued together, it would be ONE worthless document.

Exactly, I'm not sure why Logitech dumped remotes as they could have switched to a subscription model for new codes / updates. I appear to have less devices than you... Nvidia Shield, AVR and BR player in my HT room. The TV remove is sitting in a drawer without batteries. So no doubt and I agree, there's truly no need for a pricey remote; however, that wheel thing needs to go. I'm in no rush to replace my Harmony remote, but I know it's not going to last forever; therefore, to prepare, I'm performing a purge of various odds and ends that are no longer used / needed throughout the house... I just about have the funds required for YIO / Unfolded Circle as a replacement... gotta love eBay, Nextdoor and FB Marketplace.

Here's Youthman's latest review of the newer Sofabaton X1S that he posted yesterday. The X1S supposedly has a lot of improvements over the current X1 and should be its replacement. It does look like they're finally getting there...

Finally getting to where it NEEDS to be!
I went to Sofabaton website and the X1 is NOT fully 'forward compatible' with the X1S...... It is also 20$ or 30$ MORE expensive, putting it at the top what I'll spend on what I hope is NOT a 'commodity device'..... Based on looking thru the shipping docs? It'd take about 2 weeks to get here.
I'm not sure it is possible to 'mix and match' the docks. But the new firmware is nothing but to the good.

Anyone who might sit in front of my home theater with Hopes of controlling it Remotely, probably would head straight for the components themselves and flip them on manually (That is after they stop laughing) My system (I believe at least) Sounds Awesome but it’s control is abysmal save only to myself. That part of it is just a bad habit that I’ve gotten used to instead of trying to do something about it.
The brainchild of everything is my old eight macro Sunfire remote, which has learned the primary codes of the XMC1. It’s got fundamental control over everything else. When I need to get more detailed, I just grab one of the remotes from the mess on my coffee table and take it from there…… Somehow I just don’t care so long as the walls are shaking.

#405? You have what is known as an 'Artifact'. I could NOT get away with that around here. The 'other' user? AKA? Spouse.......really is not overly technical and just wants SIMPLE function.
To this end I've maintained a Logitech remote for maybe 20 years or so. Bought the first one from COSTCO in what I guess was a 'blowout' deal.....
Now that those goofballs at Logitech have suffered a fatal LACK of vision and abandoned the market instead of Improving what they sell....... Well? I'm going to migrate. Is the Sofabaton X1S the 'final solution'? The Video posted by #1963 is quite convincing. Makes me think that with a couple trips to the Single Malt and an hour or so I could get my simple system hammered into shape and working.
I may download the app (to phone, not my desktop!) and search the database for my few paltry pieces of gear. I give it 100% that my TV and BR player are good. My preamp, a Parasound? it BETTER be there and my DTV receiver? I have an older? HR54/500 receiver.....
Otherwise, no sale.....

I'm still maintaining half a dozen ageing Pronto remotes - nothing before or since came close to them for customisability if you were willing to sit down and program them (and knew Javascript and were happy to spend hours doing it of course). Sadly, they're really on their last legs now (screens dying, random reboots), and I've been holding out for Unfolded to become a reality. In prep, I've been moving all the logic from JS in the prontos into Home Assistant, which of course meant writing an integration for Emo processors for Home Assistant, but that's all done now. So, I'm hopeful now that if Unfolded becomes a viable alternative, their HA integration might make the journey easier.

For a couple weeks I've been scrolling past these posts with the topic "Sofa-bation" thinking ... I don't want to know about that! You might have a successful arguement that they could have come up with a Better Name........ 'Theater Commander'? No.....too.....military, maybe 'Home Integration Companion'?.......Sounds almost Friendly? 'THE Remote (and than a number.....)' Simple and sounds like what it's supposed to be. (Theater Home Entertainment) They should have had a Contest!

I just thought of ONE glitch to even the 'top' Sofabaton X1S.
NO number buttons. I'd use these for direct channel access......
It would appear the workaround may be to access the channel selection guide and go to the channel that way.
Than use the 'back' button to toggle between 2 channels.....
I have to take a 2nd look at the Unfolded Circle remote.

The X1S and presumably the X1 have a function where you can put numbers on the main 'screen', I put screen in quotes, since it it tiny.
What this would SEEM to mean is that channel 244 would be fairly easy while 360 would require some scrolling to make happen...
Ease also would depend on that 'scroll wheel'.....touchy or rough starts to make choices more difficult.....

Ease also would depend on that 'scroll wheel'.....touchy or rough starts to make choices more difficult..... Three years ago, I bought the original U1. That remote had "hard" number buttons on the remote. Not sure why they'd remove them, but in today's world of streaming live TV and scrolling through a channel guide, I can understand. Ultimately, I ended up returning the U1. Not because it didn't work well enough, but because building "activities" was pretty much a non existent feature at that time. You had to build macros on your own for every activity that you wanted to create. Having been a long time Harmony owner, that was a non-starter for me. I'm glad to see that they have addressed that shortcoming and building an "activity" should now be pretty painless. As I recall, the operation of the "scroll ball" on the U1 was fairly smooth under your thumb. So if that's how you now need to select the numbers, I don't think that would be too much of a problem as long as you're quick enough to satisfy the needs of your TV or cable box before it "times out". Personally, I will likely give the X1S a try. Having 30 days to return it (when purchased through Amazon), I don't have much to lose except the time invested...
