Hello, I have an XMC-1 (love it by the way) and I'm using the USB port to input music from a computer. My question is, can I plug into the XMC-1 to run a pair of VU meters to show either the pre XMC signal input or post XMC stereo output signal while outputting 7 channels to my amp. I tried using the Zone 1 R/L RCA output, but it didn't work. Would the Record Out R/L RCA connection work for me? Thanks in advance.

I think we need to know something about the VU meters, and what level signal they’re expecting. The Record out would give you a signal independent of the volume control (that would seem desirable to me). The Zone 1 output would vary with the volume control, if that’s what you’re looking for. But depending on the meters you may need to add a small amp between the output and meters.

You could use the second set of outputs for the LF and RF channels. If you use XLR then use the RCA outputs for the meters or vice versa. This would give you a display that varied with volume level.

Ok, so you have this device and you tested Zone 1 out, and it didn’t work, did you have the volume up, because that would vary it. I’d try record out and let us know what happens.

If you want to monitor the volume of the system just use the RCA or XLR outputs for LF and RF. It works well.

The Db display was the thing that wasn't working. I plugged another one into the the Record Out RCAs and it worked perfectly. Time to send this one back. Thanks for your responses and Have a great Thanksgiving!!
