Hello,
I have an old UPA-2 amplifier that I want to use to power my rear surrounds, but I need to put the amplifier close to the surrounds and cannot run wires to it easily. To accomplish this, I purchased a wireless RCA adapter [https://www.crutchfield.com/p_946SPTBWAA/SVS-SoundPath-Tri-Band.html] and I will connect the transmitter to the two channels I want to connect on the pre/pro and the receiver to the two channels on the UPA-2. All this is pretty straightforward I think (famous last words).
My question is, how do I trigger that amp remotely? I see there are projector screen triggers that connect to the power cord. Is this something anyone has experience with? I don't know if it needs to hold the trigger high during operation, or if that's how these triggers work. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated.
If this request is a challenge, is it okay if I leave the amp on when not using it? Or is that not recommended?
Thanks to the group in advance. I appreciate learning from you all.
Jason

If you used a Harmony Hub based remote, with Hub extender, you could add a Zwave or Zigbee Outlet. Then when you selected 'Watch a Movie' or whatever you called it, along with turning on the correct components, it would also turn on the Zwave switch. I do use Zwave with my Harmony, and it does work pretty well, though I mostly control lights, fountains, (switches and outlets). That said, if you don't use a Harmony Hub, it's a lot to setup, just for that. You could also use an uncoordinated smart plug, that is, an App on your phone would turn the Amp on/off, and it would be manual, not coordinated with the rest of your system. Most people would say it won't hurt your amp to leave it on, though I'd do the stupid smart plug before that.

Since Harmony and its 'Hub' are on the way out? Raises the question?
Will either of the 2 major competitors, that being Sofabaton or Unfolded Circle Remote 3, ALSO handle that interface?
