Hello all! I'm about to post something in the Remote Controls forum that I hope others find interesting, so I thought I should probably introduce myself here first.
I'm in NC. I've been into movies and music since I was in high school. I have a degree in music performance, which got me a job in... tech. I've had so many different AVRs until I guess I out grew them. I didn't really get on the audiophile track until maybe about 8 years ago and after a few years of developing my audiophile ear, I started to find faults I couldn't live with in my AVR.
One of those faults was fixed by adding an XPA Gen 3 to my AVR, relieving it of amplification duty. Eventually though, I had to get something with a lower noise floor, so I picked up an RMC-1L and got rid of the AVR. So happy with that choice!
In my viewing space, all my audio gear is positioned in a rack behind me, so I was delighted that the IR remote with the RMC-1L still worked pretty well from the couch as long as I angled it up a bit. But I like listening to music too, ideally without having to turn on (or listen to) the projector. So I needed something more than the IR remote, and I'm an Android user (foreshadowing).
I'm really happy that a company like Emotiva exists to give us an option that's sonically better, at least to me, than any AVR and less expensive (like a lot less expensive!) than so many dealer-channel brand's separates.
So, nice to meet you all! Glad to be here.

I have adequate control (but somewhat primitive) over eight. Components, using a 22 year old remote from my original Sunfire theater grand processor It handles the XMC1 quite nicely. Still, however, people laugh at my coffee table, especially my younger brother for all the equipment remotes laying all over the place.

A 22 year old remote! Wow! My downstairs living room setup has an old Onkyo AVR from 2008 and the first thing I had to replace was the remote And as of about 6 months ago, the screen died too. I'm using a Raspberry Pi to control it over its serial port with my phone now. It seems that slowly, I'm migrating to using my phone to control everything. Which I suppose has the virtue of keeping the coffee table clean

Hello Jon, welcome to the lounge, our little spot in the interwebs! The road you followed to get here is similar to many of our journeys and different from many others but the amount of knowledge filling this space and access to Emotiva is incredible. First round of drinks are on me, you just have to try the Emo Blue. 😁
